Another Gift from the Alternative Lifestyle Community

Drug-resistant tuberculosis is spreading even faster than medical experts had feared, the World Health Organization warned in report issued Tuesday. The rate of TB patients infected with the drug-resistant strain topped 20 percent in some countries, the highest ever recorded, the U.N. agency said.

Globally, there are about 500,000 new cases of drug-resistant TB every year, about 5 percent of the 9 million new TB cases. In the United States, 1.2 percent of TB cases were multi-drug resistant. Of those, 1.9 percent were extensively drug-resistant.

There's a huge, gross discrepancy there if they are then reporting 25 percent of the world's multi-drug resistant TB cases," said Mark Harrington, executive director of Treatment Action Group, a public health think tank. "They are clearly nurturing a multi-drug resistant TB epidemic and failing to report XDR-TB at all."

"Multi-drug resistant TB is a threat to every person on the planet," Harrington said. "It's not like HIV, where you are only infected through specific actions. TB is a threat to every person who takes a train or a plane."

Thanks to the politics of AIDS-in-hand with the "Gay community" one public health threat that was largely ignored because of politics trumping the science of lethal disease control, is now leading to a disease for which a change in behavior will not necessarily prevent exposure and lethal infection.

TB is coming in to USA from Mexico. It is getting worse and worse all the time, too.

Is there any doubt that the male homosexual lifestyle is a self destructive behavior?

You’ve been on FR for nearly 3 years and you don’t know that you aren’t supposed to change the title of the article when you post it?

As long as people think that what you do in “private” is
nobody elses business....this kind of development (which
is unnecessary) will continue.
They forgot about the “butterfly effect” when it came to
human behaviour.

I had a TB scare about ten years ago when I tested positive for the disease. Six of my fellow employees also tested positive and we all had one thing in common. All seven of us spent at least one eight hour shift sitting in the hospital room of an illegal alien that ICE put in state custody. This is how TB spreads throughout our prison system. It happens when the Feds drop illegals off at the state lockup and they mix with state inmates while being transported in buses and vans. Luckily for me and my fellow employees we were only exposed to the disease and none of us became sick.

We aren’t just talking about the common TB strain here but one that is extremely resistant to known antibiotics. These highly resistant strains are born of the immune depressed population that are treated with antibiotics to rid themselves of TB. Antibiotics only destroy 99.99% of the TB organism leaving behind the highly resistant subpopulation for the immune system to defeat—this doesn’t happen with AIDS patients and they become the incubator and source of these highly resistant strains.

YOu wouldn’t know it from the major media and hollywood who seek to exalt such behavior and offer it special protection and as alternative lifestyles for children to consider. Go figure.

A person can smoke, be 80 pounds over-weight, drink, eat white bread and meat and still be healthier than the average gay guy. Wonder why the MSM doesn’t cover this health fact?

Universal Healthcare link -

I would bet that this lifestyle would not be on the list of “do not treat because they are too expensive”

like the obese, smokers, down’s syndrome babies, the elderly, etc.

Not to public health officials. Hollywood and the old media seemed intent on promoting it, especially to benefit school children.

Your altered headline is wrong. It’s not a gift from the Alternative Lifestyle Community. As the article states, “drug-resistant TB arises when primary TB treatment is poor. Countries with strong treatment programs, like the U.S. and other Western nations, should theoretically have very little drug-resistant TB.”

You are exactly right; in fact, there has been more money spent on AIDs in terms of patient numbers and threat to the normal population, then heart disease, diabetes, and cancer combined.

And a tip of the sombrero to "conservative" President Jorge Bush without who has helped to make this possible.

I can assure you that seeing that positive test result will worry you before you know which strain it is. I was going crazy for a week waiting for the test results for me, my wife and my kids. I’m just glad I didn’t suffer anything worse than being exposed to it. As a precaution I took the medication for nine months and I have chest x-rays every year because I will always test positive using the needle test.
