No less an authority figure than Karl Rove has warned Republican operatives from demagoguing Barack Obama's middle name.
At a closed door meeting of GOP state executive directors in late January, Rove said the safest way to refer to Obama would be to use his honorific, "Sen. Obama."
"The context was, you're not going to stimatize this guy. You shouldn't underestimate him," one of the executive directors said. Rove said that the use of "Barack Hussein Obama" would perpetuate the notion that Republicans were bigoted and would hurt the party.
Rove also said that Republicans should refer to Hillary Clinton as "Sen. Clinton," rather than "Hillary."
Right wing figures are set to ignore Rove's advice. Rush Limbaugh used Obama's middle name more than a year ago, and Ann Coulter regularly uses the middle name, once calling him "President Hussein." So does Michael Savage, who once asked whether Obama was a "so-called friendly Muslim" or one more "radical."

History is full of people who peaked,..if you care to study it..Mr. Rove has peaked. Do you think ideologically he is conservative ? He is a political operative, they can switch allegiances faster than a Apparatchik . Russia was full of their kind between 1917-1938. As we grow closer to the Marxist Muslim Globalist State, you will see more and more of that kind here. Don’t expect the current political players to be going in the box cars with us, they will be waving from outside the barbed wire.

It's easier to insult someone by calling them names than it is to intelligently address the issues. That's why name-calling is so popular around here lately. FReepers do it to each other all the time after they post asinine comments.

Karl’s right - the Hussein business just appeals to people who are either bigoted or too dumb to bother with a regular analysis of the issues.

Truth is, Obama will win whether we use his full legal name or not. Why? Because we have a candidate who wants to be the first woman president ahead of Hillary.

I keep seeing this on FR yet there are many former Muslims who are alive and have never had an attempt made on their lives. I know two personally.
I guess good ol’ Karl’s resume’ doesn’t stack up with that of a patriotic American and former Marine, fed up with today’s pc politics. Look, if I want to call a spade a spade, I believe I have a right to do so. And if I want to call Senator Clinton, Hillary, then I believe I have a right to do so. And if I want to call Obama, Hussein, then I have a right to do so. And if I want to express my opinion about Rove and his guidance in how we should conduct ourselves then I, once again, have a right to do so, as in STFU. I suppose I could tell you the same but let me just point out that you did to me what I did to Rove. You just expressed yourself in a pc manner, but you also called me an asinine noob.(?) I remember when Bill Clinton (have you ever called him anything other than Mr President or the former President?) repeatedly referred to President Bush (the elder) as Mister during a Presidential debate. Total disrespect and disregard by Bill Clinton who later soiled OUR office with his public trysts. This is not about resumes’ or the questioning thereof.

McCain’s taking Rove’s advice, as we saw yesterday when he ran from Bill Cunningham’s introduction at the Cincy rally. I thus expect to see the following introducing him at future sparsely attended rallies: Bennett, who will deliver a rousing speech about K-12; Lugar, who will squeek in his inimitable way about the glorious U.N; Hernandez, who will speak mesmerizingly about La Raza; or how about Forbes, who will recount what it’s like to have a gay albeit rich father.
