U.S. Representative Michele Bachmann has written to U.S. immigration officials to determine how an illegal immmigrant allegedly was able to cause last week's fatal school bus crash in Cottonwood.

Bachmann asks the assistant secretary of Homeland Security in charge of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Julie Myers, how federal and local law enforcement can ensure such a thing never happens again.

Bachmann also raises questions with ICE about the suspect, Olga Martinez Franco, who had gone by the alias Alianiss Morales. A woman using that name was ticketed for driving without a license in Montevideo in 2006.

Bachmann says she wants to know what measures ICE has in place to "foster greater cooperation with local law enforcement authorities."

ICE spokesman Carl Rusnok says the agency responds directly to members of Congress when they make inquiries.

He says ICE works closely with law enforcement agencies on every level. But he says ICE routinely is not notified by local law enforcement when traffic tickets are issued to suspected illegal aliens.

He says the incident in Cottonwood is tragic, and ICE continues to work with law enforcement agencies to help minimize the possibility of future incidents.

There’s not a dearth of answers. There’s a dearth of outrage. People need to be up in blessed arms about this. The State legislature’s feet need to be held to the fire. The message should be loud and clear. We are tired of paying benefits to these people, we are tired of them mooching. And before you attempt it, we are aware of the net benefit (-ve) they bring. Primarily, we live by the rule of law. You are the legislative body. Enforce the blessed law.

I doubt it. I also question the commitment of the current administration to even bother with it as a problem. Same for all the main candidates for president still standing.

We might require them to provide verification that their ‘accent reduction program’ is working first. They want to obfuscate? OK, let’s play.

And Pawlenty’s reputation for being tough on illegal immigrants obviously don’t meet reality, the welfare state he is in charge of just attracts all kinds of buzzards.

The American Crime Lovers Union will jump all over it if local law enforcement notifies ICE of tickets issued to ‘suspected illegal aliens’. Even to my former dummycrat self, it reeks of discrimination. Plus, that only makes them visible when they’re driving.

I’m not positing this as an expert, but because it has been proven to work in OK and AZ, I say let’s start with employment. They wouldn’t be here if there were no jobs. Maybe it’s reductionist, but it’s a start.

Five-year Amnesty Bill Under Discussion
Some House Democrats are having behind-the-scenes discussions about creating a special visa for illegal aliens they believe will enjoy considerable Republican support. Under the plan, illegal aliens who can prove they have jobs, pay a fine, and pass a criminal background heck will receive the gift of legal status for 5 years. The plan is designed to attract pro-business Republicans and those who backed the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill by also increasing the number of visas issued for technical, temporary and agricultural workers.”

Great for Michelle Bachmann! Is she the only one we have left who will represent us?

And represent us she is. Contrary to what the liberals and media in this state would have us believe, people are overwhelmingly against the whole illegal situation here.

I was reading the Pioneer Press the other day about the accident, and comments were running about 8:1 against illegal leniency.

Yup. Before the Mexican influx, it was street people from Chicago by the bus loads. One of the TVs followed a recent arrival from the bus station in Mpls to the drivers license station, then to a state assistance office, etc. In Minnesota, the legislature clamped down by mandating a five year limit on public assistance. That’s really tough !

The financial toll is bad enough but the death toll is unacceptable. I wish that the millions of people who are as disgusted as I am would rise up and throw the bums out of office for selling us out. It’s time for us to wake up and stop the rape of our country by the lowlife swine in Washington. This country belongs to us only if we are willing to fight for it.
