If McCain wins the GOP loses.

Close. ...but it should read "conservatism loses." The GOP isn't everything.

The Coup D'etat seems to have happened..

The chief problem of American political life...has been how to make the two Congressional parties more national and international. The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can 'throw the rascals out' at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy."

~Carroll Quigley, 'Tragedy and Hope'

Quigley was an evil man. Brilliant, but evil.

You’re right, I lumped you into the “foaming at the mouth” crowd of McCain haters. My apologies to you for that. I’m simply weary of the conservative candidate cannibals. I believe that dynamic to be more to blame for McCain’s win by default than anything else.

I suspect if he wins the election, it will be by ‘default’. Odds are he could pull it off again, considering the caliber of either Dim candidate and time frame of 8 months....

“But no, that isn’t national security and the war, and pretending it is, is mere pretence.”

I honestly believe you’re serious. We can wipe any foreign nation off the map in half a day if they become a real threat to our national security. But attacks like 9/11 were years in the planning, and who knows how many more are in the planning now, and how many visa holders (or overstayers) or recent immigrants or illegal aliens are in place to execute new plans.

Our gravest national security problem by far is what can be done within the US, not off in the Middle East. Those are sideshows compared to the potential threats at home in this era of attacks by small groups of terrorists.

And McCain is the 35% nominee. Far more votes were cast for candidates to the right of him while they remained in the race: Romney, Huckabee and Thompson. There is absolutely NO consensus among Republicans for McCain and his positions. He won a bogus primary set up because those who favored more conservative candidates split their votes among three and more at times, and he got winner take all states with <40%.

And don’t forget all the help he received in some states from crossovers and Dems. A potential disaster in the making, unless the Dem. nominee scares enough voters away to give McCain a chance.

Thus your argument fails when one considers McCain’s true character.

That is really the point, isn't it? He is a traitorous bastard. He has no honor. How can he be trusted at all?

When all is said & done. It does not matter whom we vote for because in the end, there is not a nickel worth of difference between the three of them. We will end up with the same ending, balkanized; two class caste system; the country that was once a strong beacon will be no more.

Lets take a honest and hard look as to what has happen in the last few years.

A) English is no longer the primary language. Push 1 for English ring any bells? While we try to be open-minded toward other cultures, the only culture dying is ours.

B) Why do ballots need to be in multi-langugages when one of the requirements to being a US citizen is to know English. Could it be non-citizens are voting?

C) Open Borders while at war. Mexicans & South Americans are not the only ones coming across our borders. Of course, all that cross illegally does have one thing in common, destroy our country, our laws, and all that it stands for.

E) It is sad when a Drug Dealer's testimony holds more weight then our own Border Patrol Agents. The same Border Agents that were claimed to be racists even though they are of Mexican descent. The beautful lady now stands, eyes wide open while her scale of justice is broken. Judicial Tyranny at its finest.

F) People demonstrating while flying flags of another country demanding rights that even their own native country will not give them. The irony in this would be funny if not so heartbreaking.

G) Islam grows stronger in this country ever day. Look at St. Louis to get a clue. We are the frog in tepid water and it is beginning to boil.

H) Open Diversity: Public School students pretend to be muslims for a week. The same religion which does not tolerate any diversity what so ever. Of course, this from the same public schools that fear the true meaning of Christmas will threaten their very souls. Maybe they have a point.

I) Words Mother & Father outlawed in the California School System. This is a slippery slope that will not only destroy all that is family but the very ones they are trying to protect. Coming soon, two new political correct terms: breeders & non-breeders. You read it here first.

J) Marines that fought bravely are now sitting in the brig on the "sworn" testimony of our enemies. Viet Nam was just a stepping stone to what is being done to our Military now. It should break those that have a heart, the slings & arrows our brave men & women are faced with in enemy territory and sadly at home. The treason that goes unpunished in this country is damning.

K) Enemies we are at war with surround a Navy Cruiser in rubber rafts. Navy ship worth billion held hostage by $99.00 Walmart rubber rafts. What is important here is this. Did the Admiral & the lobbyist able to finish their golf game. Or more importantly, maybe the Admiral should have spent more time with the lobbyist representing manufacturers of rubber rafts. Did those that died on USS Cole teach us anything or did they die in vain? Keep repeating, we are at war, we are at war.

L) A woman holding the world's record of being in hospice for nine years was finally put to death. Her only guilt was to continue living. It took thirteen days but eventually without water, she could no longer hold on. Even though her family begged to take care of her, our legal system not only denied this but made them watch her die in the most barbaric way. Police were there to maintain that not even a slither of ice would touch her parched lips. Meanwhile, ACLU has filed briefs against the inhumane way we are putting Murderers on death row to death. It seems they can feel the prick of the needle when they are given the IV. We think Islam is barbaric.....Again, Judicial Tyranny at its finest. Keep repeating this is the USA, this is the USA.

M) The environment. While the elitists live in their multi mansions, fly in their private jets, ride in limos, etc., our children are made to feel guilty for having lights on. In order for the elitists to maintain their lifestyles, it is up to us, the common people, to change our meager way of life. In fact, Father Gore cares so much for the environment, (God Bless him), he has created carbon offsets. Needless to say, those that can afford to purchase carbon offsets, can continue to live their lifestyle of the rich while us dupes can sacrifice all the way back to the stoneage. Al, you finally found your calling. Talk about giggling all the way to the Bank.

(N) When once we had a free press, we now have Propagandists. I'm sure old Benjamin Franklin is shaking his head on this one. For those indoctrinated in the Public School System, this was one of our founding fathers.

(O) When once we were proud to have freedom of thought & speech, we now have political correctness & hate speech. The old sticks & stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me is in the past. In fact with sticks & stones bones can heal but can't say the same for words. People lives can be destroyed with just the mere mention of a word. Life, Liberty & no hurt feelings.

(P) Murders, criminals have more right than those of the most innocent among us, the unborn. No need to say anymore. The simple line speaks volumes.

(R) While we were busy rallying behind our troops, to make sure our brave military would never go thru the hell our brave Vietnam veterans endured, our own President was giving away our sovereignty to Mexico & Canada. He was even cheerful when the Republican Party lost the majority in the house & senate so he could get his Amnesty Bill passed. and RINOS cause no harm.(snork).....

(S) We once held title to the best free Education System in the world, we now rival China & Russia in Indoctrination Centers.

I can go on but I've taken enough of everyone's time. The bottom line is all three candidates are brought & paid for by George Soros. George Soros will call the shots, not you or I. We've been snookered, had, flim-flamed etc by the best of them. The question is, what is anyone willing to sacrifice to bring this country back from the brink or are we past the point of this country ever becoming the shinning beacon again?

Our brave military has answsered the call, can we say the same?

The Dems have been out of power for eight years now in terms of the presidency. I think you underestimate their enthusiasm. Think about the 2000 election and how enthused we were. As for attaboys, one is never to old!

I still think we would need a really good candidate in order to win in November. I don’t think McCain is a good candidate. He is Dem lite. It just seems to me when given a choice...between Dem lite and Dem, the country goes Dem.

One can expect the Repubs in congress to oppose the Dems, but not a president from their own party.

There’s no question that in the short term it would be better to have McCain in the White House than Hillary or Obama. But in the long term it would not.

If McCain is elected (and he has a good chance) he will redefine conservatism by moving it leftward. In 2012 or 2016, true conservative candidates will be considered dangerous extremists. I’ll give you an example of how this process works by invoking another Arizona politician: Barry Goldwater.

In his latter years, Goldwater came out strongly for abortion and gay “rights”, and against the Christian right. The media had hated Goldwater’s guts for thirty years, but when he began taking these stances that were more in line with the media’s beliefs, they saw an opening. They heaped praise on Goldwater and declared that a “true conservative” would be “tolerant” and “open-minded” toward abortion and homosexuality, and would be horrified by traditional values proponents. We suddenly heard the term “Barry Goldwater conservative” being coined, and we were told that the “extreme right” had stolen the GOP from great men like Goldwater and moved the party to the outer fringes.

It had an impact, and it frightened a lot of Republicans. It’s why the GOP today seems scared to even make an issue out of same-sex “marriage”, even though huge majorities of the public clearly hold a conservative stance on that issue (as we’ve seen in referenda results).

And Goldwater was a declining, aging man who had left office already. Imagine if we have a Republican president who openly supports amnesty, opposes pro-life and pro-normal marriage constitutional amendments, supports government controls on speech, supports the whole global warming agenda, wants to reign in our ability to fight terrorists, wants to close Gitmo and bring terrorists onto continental soil as non-combatants, and so forth.

In no time the term “John McCain conservative” will be part of the lexicon. Any conservative taking a position to the right of McCain will be marginalized as an extremist. The Democrats McCain works with on all those issues will, via the same process, be cast as “moderates”.

George Bush’s support for amnesty has already had a huge negative impact. Few conservatives have the nerve to make an issue out of it because they know they’ll be called a racist and a bigot. Bush himself has used such terms to describe them. Imagine trying to oppose amnesty if the leading GOP proponent of it becomes president. McCain is more likely to pass amnesty than either Hillary or Obama because the GOP will dig in to oppose it with a ‘Rat in the White House. But McCain will have a shot at passing it with increased Democrat majorities in Congress, especially after the 2010 mid-terms.

Speaking of which, if McCain is elected, the Democrats will sweep the 2010 mid-terms and in 2012 a radical Obama type Democrat will win and this time he’ll sweep huge Democrat majorities into Congress with him.

A McCain defeat will be hard to live with for a couple of years, because a leftist ‘Rat will win, but conservatives can regroup, retake the party from the Democrat wannabes, and rally as they did in 1980 and 1994. A McCain win likely means amnesty will pass, and millions and millions of new Democrat voters will be added to the voting rolls, locking the Democrats in as the majority party in perpetuity.

Well thanks for the apology. It's not really a problem.

On the bright side (so to speak) there's a good chance all three current presumptive nominees will be taken out by scandal before the election.

“So why are you working so hard, so viscerlly, so nasty, to turn votes against McCain?”

You sentence is incorrect as I am in the third group but I am not nasty and many others aren’t, either. It appears you don’t understand our objection to McCain. If elected, as a conservative Republican, he will define conservatism for many years to come and we will be lost in an abyss and have to fight our way back. He is not one of us and we need to make that clear right now, at this definitive time. We must not let him win and destroy conservatism.

Conservatives have to defeat him or suffer annihilation and that’s a powerful motive for action. I will not vote for a man who will destroy us.

LOL! I'll be doing none of the above. You can type until your little fingers fall off ... continuing on your crusade will not change anything. Well, maybe turn a few others off to McCain, but that is a good thing! By all means, keep going just as you are!

I’m in the second group. But you’ll not see a “McCain ‘08” sign in my yard, or a sticker on my car.

A month ago or so, I probably would have said “No way, I’m not going to vote for him if he gets the nomination. I’ll just stay home.” I was too caught up in other, more preferable candidate’s campaigns. I wasn’t thinking ahead, and could not forsee the situation we’re in now.

McCain is weak, and pretty much the least conservative you can be in this party. However, if McCain is not elected, we’re going to have either the Clintons back in power, or the leader of the empty suit cult (Obama). This is a depressing reality, to be sure. But I’m going to go with the lesser of three evils rather than stay home and go unrepresented. Hope that’s not a problem.
