Hillary Clinton hasn't publicly conceded the Democratic nomination to Barack Obama, of course. But I have seen a significant new piece of evidence indicating that she has given up, that her actions show she is no longer acting primarily to win the election, but rather to position herself better if she loses. (Psychologically, her closing speech last night has been widely discussed as possibly hinting at the same thing.)
What's the news? She has sent out invitations to Massachusetts supporters that she will be in Boston this Sunday (Feb 24), holding a fundraiser dinner (a $5,000 per table “Conversation with Hillary” that is “In Support of Hillary Clinton for President”). Now she could hold a fundraiser just as easily in a state that still has a primary to come. But she is instead in Massachusetts because whatever differential in cash she can get by being in Boston instead of in Texas or Ohio (or Rhode Island, where she will be earlier in the day) more than outweighs the advantage she could get in votes by showing up in a still-relevant state.
The other interpretation of this news is that she's so broke that she must maximize income even at the cost of not being in relevant states with upcoming primaries. This is different, but almost as good news for Hillary's opponents to right and left – and almost as disheartening to her supporters. It is at least as telling on this score as the news that she has recently loaned her campaign $5 million of her "personal" money.
Most likely, both things are true: Hillary is now more interested in getting her $5 million back than she is in maximizing her chances of winning. She is no longer fighting for the nomination.

We don't have to, nor can we really, "send a message" to the RNC.
The RNC is not in charge of our lives or our destiny. It has no power to vet candidates, give them permission to run, force people to vote or not vote for them.
The RNC is irrelevant to this enterprise. If conservatives want a candidate, they have to "emerge" him themselves. How did Howard Dean emerge when he was NOTHING on the DNC-scene? From the grassroots. How did Obama emerge when Hildy was THE candidate of the DNC, the Rat elites, the moneychangers, the media and on and on? From the grassroots.
WE have to do this and quit blaming the mythical "They."
That's wishful thinking on your part. The ship has been told that before by other people and it's still around. And it will be around in the future with or without you.
I agree, if we vote for McCain this will confirm the GOP’s belief that conservatives don’t count because who else are we going to vote for? I think we have very little chance of winning this election anyway. We should leave the presidential slot on the ballot blank and vote straight GOP down the ballot. Maybe the GOP will take notice if GOP votes for congress are thousands more that the votes cast for McCain.
Not necessarily - more like she was told to be more agreeable for the ‘party’ sake. to put herself in a better light. I think she’s getting it - no one likes her!
Really and what will McCain do? He authored McCain-Kennedy remember?
Okay, tell me this:
If we had a national primary day and you were able to vote and McCain still won the nomination, would you vote for him in the election?
If your answer is no, then apparently your problem is not that you didn’t get to vote before (as sometimes happens) a candidate locked up the nomination, but simply that you don’t like the result.

Whether we like it or not, the majority of our fellow Americans are NOT conservatives. "The Party" did not choose John McCain. Your fellow Americans did when they excercised their right to vote.
There are not enough moderates to replace conservatives. What it will prove is that the GOP can not win without conservatives-no matter how many moderates they attract. You have to have a base in order to win elections. The GOP has gone to war with the conservative base.
So big deal, you are making your self irrelevant. That's your choice a poor choice, but your choice.
Did Duncan Hunter not run for president?
Was he not perfectly available to any voter who wanted to vote for him?
Had he gotten the votes to move forward, could the RNC have stopped him somehow?
Yeah, Duncan Hunter lost. Because hardly anyone voted for him. That’s the voters’ responsibility, not some Party conspiracy.
Actually, if McCain was voted in fairly-everyone given an equal chance to choose the nominee-not some RHINO forced on us by the GOP running big winner take all primaries in blue states and McCain won fair and square, I would vote for him. However, he wouldn’t have won under these circumstances which is why conservatives were not allowed to help choose the nominee. The GOP moderates are to blame for losing the election in 2008. The RHINO’s chose an unelectable candidate and are trying to out democrat the democrats. Republicans acting like Democrats never win.

However you are making what I think is an erroneous assumption, and that is that all conservatives are going to sit out the election. In my opinion only a small, but vocal, number will.
Also in my opinion they may well be replaced by independents that will vote for McCain.

The GOP decided I was irrelevant when they decided to rig the primaries for Rudy. Another Rhino-McCain won. They didn’t care about the conservative vote-how much more irrelevant can conservatives become? The GOP decided we were not relevant. Now, they must learn that they can not win without conservative votes. The GOP was counting on Hillary hatred to ensure that marginalized conservatives voted for the RHINO of choice. Now it appears Obama will be the candidate, they are trying to name call, shame conservatives into voting for an unacceptable candidate-McCain. Sorry, I am not holding my nose and voting for McCain period.
