WASHINGTON (AP) Defense Secretary Robert Gates says the United States is prepared to share with China some of the information it has about this week's U.S. satellite shootdown.
His comments came after Beijing complained the missile strike could cause harm to outer space security and some countries.
Gates told reporters during a visit to Hawaii that the United States is prepared to share whatever it can "appropriately" share with China.
The Pentagon said earlier that debris from the obliterated satellite is being tracked over the Pacific and Atlantic oceans but appears to be too small to cause damage on Earth.
We may need them more than they need us financially. It really is disgraceful.
Those guys should have been swept out of the Pentagon seven years ago.
Lets sell them all they want to know, We’ll trade info on the paper you hold for 0.10 on the dollar.
Yeah, in the form of a framed and matted poster shot of the direct hit.
Hey China, We got your data, we got your data right here!
Just when I thought Bush couldn’t get any worse.
I’d like to think your right, but I just remember havin these lil commies generals on our battleships during the Clinton Administration.
Clinton transferring sensitive satellite technology to the commerce department so it would be easier to pass it off to the chi-coms.
Bush and Clinton are two peas in a pod.
The buck stops with the President.

No big deal, the Chinese and the Russians probably have all the data already. Plus, this is a golden opportunity to spread disinformation..
I would bet there was a camera on the nosecone of that missle. We won’t wee it tho.
The info gates ought to share with China is his upturned finger.
I would bet also that there is a missile in out inventory that could take out a satellite in a much higher orbit.
Just like the SR-71 was “retired” because we didn’t need aircraft recon anymore....C’mon, you know they have something that took its place. I don’t think the US military would rely on satellites that can be shot down as its sole source of high altitude aerial recon.
I like the screen name. My great uncle died in the Bataan Death March. Did you see the movie “The Great Raid”? If so, did you like it?
Thanks for reminding me to keep my cool as well... Because I'm certain that we were thinking along the same lines... We are so naive in this country
Threads (and the ASSumptions within this thread) are the reason I’ve not made any comments for over a year and this will be my last comment on the issue.
Some of you need to seriously back away from the keyboard and calm down.
Stupid post. Downright effing idiotic.
Works for me.
They’re going to get with their web-like spy network of ChiComs that they have in all strata of our society and in all levels of our industry.
I mean, if you can’t beat them, join them, right?
Unbelievable.
I got 50 bucks that says we wont give the Chinese anything that we or they couldn’t figure out on their own. It’s a nice “goodwill” gesture but probably not very useful.
