NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A woman who has been considered dead found out recently that the government still doesn't believe she's alive.
According to government paperwork, Laura Todd has been dead off and on for eight years, and Todd said there's no end to the complications the situation creates.
One time when I (was) ruled dead, they canceled my health insurance because it got that far, she said.
Todds struggle started with a typo at the Social Security administration. She said the government has assured her since the problem that they have deleted her death record, but she said the problems keep cropping up.

This is like King of the Hill when the government put down that he was a Female on his driver’s license.

I don’t know; with our government I can easily see the next headline, “Living Woman Declared Dead Now Dead, but Declared Living.”

If the government declares you dead, are you responsible if you kill a government worker while you are dead?

Looks like it will have to. Looks like noone at the SS Admin or IRS has brains enough to do so.

If she’s dead hell .. skip the health insurance and enjoy no taxation, immunity to criminal prosecution and other assorted benefits with being legally DEAD.

The government has ways of correcting these mistakes - with extreme prejudice...
What the heck - it's far easier for them to fix it that way than trying to correct the government's computer records...

Coming to a bureaucracy near you: "Look, lady, the paperwork to fix this is impossible. Don't keep pushing us because someone is going to realize it is easier to make you actually dead than officially alive."

That’s probably the quickest way to fix the glitch.

Just wait until we get mandatory, government-run health care.

According to government paperwork, Laura Todd has been dead off and on for eight years, If she's been dead for eight years, does that mean she voted for Gore and Kerry?

Looking on the bright side, she’s now allowed to vote 27 times in any election. (Provided she’s registered as a Democrat.)

So. I've seen this a couple of times here and there and so far no one has mentioned
Brazil. Fits this situation perfectly...

According to a government audit, Social Security had to resurrect more than 23,000 people in a period of less than two yearsthe math behind that stat would lead you to the general figure of %0.01. That's not too shabby- I doubt it's veracity.

(See profile on name. It was written after a person tried to prove a point by essentially saying, "Oh yeah, well your name is misspelled." So it is harsher than what I would have written you here.)
Haven't seen the movie, looks interesting, though.
