Van driver does not have license (MN school bus crash)

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has uncovered information on the driver of the van that hit the school bus.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has learned through state license records and state staff that the driver of the van does not have a valid driver's license.

Alianiss Morales, of Motevideo, was convicted of driving without a license two years ago, according to police and Chippewa County Court administration staff.

Morales was pulled over, according to the clerk of court's office, after a report of an an erratic driver. The officer found she was driving in Motevideo without a license.

The Minnesota State Patrol will be working with the National Transportation Safety Board to try and determine a cause for the crash. Investigators have been at the scene Wednesday and they plan to inspect all the vehicles involved and conduct interviews with students who were on the bus.

Morales, 23, remains at the hospital.

Two brothers and the daughter of a teacher were among four children killed in Minnesota's worst school bus crash in at least two decades.

The fourth victim was the son of a former teacher at Lakeview School, the small southwestern Minnesota school wracked by the crash.

I can either drive 7 miles, or 9 miles, and that’s just to a convenience store - a real grocery store is more than 20 miles. I’m about to drive 25 miles to pick up a child at school.

The driver of the van has been released from the hospital and has been arrested. She has been booked into the Lyon County jail, charged with criminal vehicular operation.

Still no mention of her status as a citizen. If she was legal, they would be leading EVERY story with that information...IMHO.

COTTONWOOD, Minn. — Authorities have confirmed that the the driver of the van that struck the school bus that killed 4 students on Tuesday is an illegal alien.

Officials at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement are checking to see where she came from and how long she’s been in Minnesota. FOX 9 has also learned that the name she gave to police, Alainiss Morales, is an alias.

Thanks for the update and your persistence at getting at the truth.

I’m sure the delay in reporting her other crime of invading the USA
was because the MN authorities didn’t want to “stigmatize” this
child-killer.

I just saw it on channel 9.They said that the parents of the victims said they weren’t surprised and will comment later. This was so preventable. She was stopped for not having a license a couple of years ago, and as far as we know, not deported.

I’m waiting to see if 5 or 11 will finally report it.

I’m wondering if the Lyon County Sheriff might call the Sheriff in Chippewa County and ask him something like.....

“Two years ago, you had this woman. You arrested her and charged her with driving without a license. She pled guilty.

Why didn’t you check and see if she was legal or not? Why did you not contact ICE?

I’ve got four dead kids, here!!!!”

I fear the Lyon County Sheriff would be savaged in the major
rags/TV outlets of the Twin Cities as a xenophobic racist for
the sort of inquiry (that you rationally envision).

As my brother found during graduate school at The U. of Minn.
(St. Paul campus in Plant Sciences)...
while the country-side of MN is fairly common-sense, they are
often "out-gunned" by the freakin' nuts calling the shots in
the major urban centers like The Twin Cities.

I also will venture that the Lyon County Sheriff saw the one
episode of Bill O'Reilly's show in which a rural LEO in Pennsylvania
found that an ICE officer in Philadelphia told him to RELEASE the
illegals he had in hand IF THEY WERE MEXICANS AND DIDN'T HAVE
ANY OUTSTANDING WARRANTS.

I guess the Amendments about "due process" and "equal rights"
doesn't apply to illegals from Ireland, Russia, and other points...
other than Mexico (and probably points South).

I guess there is a "Monroe Doctrine" about a "kid's glove" treatment
of illegals as long as they claim to be from our hemisphere.

And check back later on this thread...as I might be savaged by
some fellow FReepers that seem to think that ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS
that MURDER our fellow citizens aren't any more bothersome than
our own homegrown killers.
(In other words, those hard-working, family-values illegals that
