Early in Senator John McCains first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers.
A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, in his offices and aboard a clients corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself instructing staff members to block the womans access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.
When news organizations reported that Mr. McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of the lobbyists clients, the former campaign associates said, some aides feared for a time that attention would fall on her involvement.
Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship.
Do you have a problem with white people? You sound like either a racist or a self hating white liberal. Maybe we could nominate a communist minority and you would be happy.
“Not surprising if McCain had an affair. He betrayed his first wife.”
Well, the NY Slimes said it....almost. And you believed it, because it fits into your hatred for McCain. You have not evidence of it, yet it would “not be surprising”. What a model of fairness!
Then you proceed to slime his wife, bringing up an unfortunate issue of 15 years ago. While you are calling McCain a “Manchurian candidate” and saying his wife is not fit to be First Lady, why don’t you mention the little girl they adopted from Mother Theresa in 1993 who was attacked by the Bush campaign as his “illegitimate black daughter” before the South Carolina primary in 2000? Or maybe the fact that McCain rejected an early release from the Hanoi Hilton, because it would have meant violating the rule for POWS that the first captured are the first released.
When you print this stuff, agreeing with Keith Olberman and the NYT, are you proud of yourself? You used to support Fred Thompson. Why? If Fred could not see McCain was crazy back in 2000, when he was campaigning for him, he wasn’t fit to be president either. /s/
BTW, I personally like Laura Bush, but she is prochoice. Cindy McCain is prolife. She will be the first prolife First Lady the country has had since Roe, much to your chagrin. I would never stoop to bringing up anything dirty in Laura Bush’s past.
Well, I just learned from listening to Bob Bennett that, when he was working for the Democrats investigating the Keating 5, that he actually concluded McCain (and Glenn) should not be pursued, and that he believes McCain is an “honest man”. I did not know this, and always assumed something more negative regarding McCain and the Keating 5. So, in a strange way, this whole broohaha resulted in giving me a more positive impression of McCain.
Don't forget, we are currently in the "Bread and Circuses" phase of the empire. Vacuous phraseology now trumps substance and meaning.
There are some die hard defenders who would follow McCain right over the cliff. Some here would vote for Ted Kennedy if he had that (R) after his name.
Please ! Believing and feeding into the NYT /Dem party smears machine is pathetic.
Cindy McCain father was a huge beer distributer in AZ .
His business clients are bars and beverage stores.
Oh course he knew mobsters .
My Uncle is in the same business .
The alcohol business is full of mobsters. BIG DEAL !
Great comment...I love it!
Did you look at Drudge's headlines and the accompanying flashbacks?
Drudge is exposing the Times as the scumbags they are. And, as usual, he's doing a masterful job of it.

The phrase “go suck eggs” applies aptly here, I believe. You realize of course that your man, a lying rat, is finished...
That lawyer, Bob Bennett, was on H&C tonight. If you haven’t seen it, I’d encourage you to watch if it reruns. It’s very revealing.
You and everybody except McCain. The old egotistical SOB never believed the MSM would turn on him. He was their favorite "republican". Hey McCain, how's that "maverick" label you got sucking up the Old Gray Whore and the other MSM doing for you now?
Wow—I was not going to ever pull the lever for McCain—I just got my motivation. This could backfire bigtime on the MSM.
FR has plenty of self righteous, judgemental people. Hope their homes aren’t made of glass.
Yes, it was commonly said at the time that McCain was the "token" Republican to make the scandal appear to be bipartisan.
so who are you voting for? Obamasama or Billary?
Probably Huck. It wouldn’t really benefit anyone else at this time. The reaction here for this non-story is astounding.
I disagree. First, Drudge's headline clearly insinuates that the NYT waited until the nomination was essentially McCain's before they launched this missle. Second, this is the same NYT that endorsed McCain a month ago so then the question is were they trying to set up McCain just to knock him down? Of course! And it's obvious. If this story was being held back then how could the NYT possibly endorse him? Third, in this one article they have tried to tie a variety of charges, mostly old, some even with merit, which allows McCain to take the hits early and to build up immunity.
In a sense the NYT has assisted McCain by allowing him to see the offensive play and to develop a counter.
Biss
He’ll need your money...because his is going to dry up faster than you can say Jiminie Cricket!
I geuss that endorsement is out the window now. LOL!
