No, you misread me. I certainly didn’t mean that Cal was in any way involved. Only that had he run at the top of the ticket in 1920, I think he would have lost-—but once the economy was humming, he was electable. He probably could have won in 1928, too-—but some say he knew hard times were coming. Others say he was too broken hearted over his son’s death while in the WH. I was just making a joke about poor old Warren.

Yes, it is depressing. I came to the revelation I would be voting for McCain after hearing about Obama’s wife’s comment about being proud of her country for the first time.
He also said he’d have the troops home by 2009 and would raise the minimum wage and give those under 75 grand a tax cut and punish the wealthy for making so much money and give everyone a free education and OH MY GOD, he’s the pied piper

The Republicans are about to lose a second election in a row because of the war. If it is Obama v. McCain, we will truly have a choice not an echo on that issue. Perhaps out of the rubble the Repubicans will finally abandon Wilsonianism in 2010. They may have no other choice at that point.

Remember how in the 90s, no matter how despicable Clinton was, his supporters just dug their heels in more? It’s going to happen with Obama. No matter how inane his “policies” or his “programs,” people WILL NOT HEAR IT. They will hear “hope” and “change.” Look at the polls that show that people can’t name ONE POLICY this guy endorses.
I am more frightened about having his ANGRY hate-filled “YOU OWE ME!!!!!!!!” wife as First “lady”
