another Florida maroon equating marriage with sex. the more peopel stay married, the less importance they put on sex. it takes more than getting one’s rocks off to maintain a marriage, and this trivializes that.

Infrequent sex is probably the #1 reason men lose interest in their wives.

Aaaaaaaaah. I see.

Book of Clinton, Chapter Sept, Verse 21 (Rev 1996)

I think this preacher meant married couples should have sex with each other. Wouldn't be Book of Clinton if that's the case.

Your assumption, not mine.

Considering the lack of scholarship of what he said and how much people don’t know what he meant by anyhting he said, he has exposed himself for the bufoon that he is.

Even though it’s amusing, it’s really kind of insane and pathetic that we have to be helping a former President understand what marital infidelity really means.

It’s interesting that we don’t need to make any sarcastic remarks for President and Mrs. Bush on this particular topic. They embody the dignity and respect of what God created the marriage relationship to be.

True, but it takes children to make any Curch, Culture or Society to endure... and you don't get those without having some fun. God didn't say, "Go for, be unfruitful and frigid".

Infrequent sex is probably the #1 reason men lose interest in their wives.

And here I thought it was the wives letting themselves go that did that.

Yup. My wife says the way I treat her all day is the foreplay. Part of that is, when something important needs done, I do it - NOW! Not next week. It’s amazing how far that goes. It’s a trust and confidence thing.

I hear men say “My wife lost interest in sex so I took up fishing”. Ewwww... tuna is not a good substitute for a woman. ................. 1st you have to warm up the tuna in an oven to 98.6 degrees, then it should be ready. Best when the tuna is fresh. LOL

Well said. Sex is about intimacy and without intimacy a marriage will fail.

ok, good point...but my point that the scriptures teach us to overcome our lower, sexual natures still holds. We are supposed to need sex less and less, not more and more. That much is evident to anyone who is on the spiritual path.

I don’t think that is true within a marriage. Within a marriage it is designed that sexual intimacy is what helps us blend from two people into one person. The Song of Songs is explicit in it’s praise of physical love between a man and wife.

While sex should not be what we strive for to make a good marriage, in a good marriage both partners will often strive for sex as an expression of love and joy for each other. Self-control and indulgence is switched around at the point of marriage. To engage before is indulgent, to abstain after is indulgent.

nope, you have it mixed up in your mind. To abstain often in marriage is putting spiritual love above your need for physical pleasure. That is a good thing and sex needs to diminish if the woman is to respect and love you more. That is biblical too. The pastor who is encouraging more sex is furthering the lie of sex as love. You can have sex with love, but it in itself is just a physical act. The connection of man and wife is much more in truth and spirit but many substitute sex instead, selfishly. Fhu.com has some real good pointers on being spiritual and not so selfish.

Nope, you have it mixed up in your mind. Paul says to not deny each other and that periods of abstinence in marriage are to be by mutual consent and only for a period set aside for prayer (a sexual fast as it were) and that after that set period was over, the couple should then come together again.

That doesn’t sound like diminishing to me, it sounds like it is to be a regular occurrence that can be interrupted only for times of spiritual sacrifice.

“To abstain often in marriage is putting spiritual love above your need for physical pleasure. That is a good thing and sex needs to diminish if the woman is to respect and love you more.”

Sex needs to diminish if the woman is to respect and love you more? Why does sex need to diminish in order for your wife’s respect and love to increase? You say this is biblical. How’s that, and what scripture reference supports this?

Looks like a congregation will be spending more and more time on its knees.
