I am an American before I am a conservative
The Collins Report ^ | Feb 18, 2008 | John F, Allen

Posted on 02/19/2008 5:00:33 AM PST by jmaroneps37

I am an American conservative not a conservative American. To me they are two very different things. I recognize the extreme danger America would from a Democrat president. There is no chance I would ever vote for a Democrat or stay home. America is too important to me. I am sick of people playing politics with the future of my country.

Given the choice between the conservative movement and my country, I will vote for the safety of America in a heartbeat. I will never vote to teach the country a “lesson” with a Democrat president. I don’t play with my family’s safety. The election of either fallen away Muslim or a woman will infuriate our Islamist enemies. The “experts” playing with this fire can make believe this won’t be the case, but they are wrong.. But we should not allow them pick our president you say. I agree.

The Democrats are for higher taxes, open borders and Ruth Ginsbergs. McCain may/may not give us higher taxes, he may be persuaded to close the borders. We will have a better chance of getting a Roberts not a Ginsberg from. The real issue is national security. There is no comparing a Democrat Commander in Chief with McCain in that position. With Iraq is becoming a winning situation, why are so many conservatives willingly joining liberals in making believe the War on Terror is over and we can start spending the “peace dividend?”

I’m 100% pro life. McCain is about 95% pro life. Either Democrat is zero pro life and in fact Obama supported a bill to euthanize inconvenient born babies.

We won’t get a truly conservative president this time. We can always rebuild the conservative movement during and after McCain, but we can never rebuild America after Democrats destroy our America.

If the Presidency is already lost it is because “conservatives” will lose it.

No he wasn’t. He was selected by the GOP establishment, marketed by the liberal MSM and sold to independents and Dem crossovers. He didn’t win by overwhelming conservative vote, because he isn’t a conservative.

All you had to do was look at the turnout in the primaries. The GOP had a terrible turnout. Shows unexcited voters.

Thats how he won.

Many voters have yet to vote and McLame would never have gotten my vote. Since he is the only choice selected by liberals, he won’t get my vote in November either.

Your country does not deserve it, but YOU sure do!!!

Is Connecticut getting more Conservative these days, or more Socialist?

How’s that working out for you?

I'm glad to see you haven't come unhinged.

Conditioning Your Vote on Strict Political Purity = Political Death

Sacrificing Conservative principles over several years is fast becoming political suicide for the Republicans confirmed by the GOP losing control of Congress in 2006.

They don’t have to do “fear mongering” to scare me. The very thought of Hillary or Obama leading this country scares the daylights out of me. Do I like McCain? No, I do not, but I will have to vote for him over these two Marxists.

How expedient to blame people for maintaining their Conservative principles while the party has lost its Conservative principles by moving towards the Socialist left.

"Can’t you just wait until those people with the Che flags in their offices are given government jobs in the administration?"

FYI: a large percentage of our government employees already are leftists.

The GOP lost Congress in 2006 because Independents and other Less-Than-Strict-Conservatives fled to the Democrats.

Conservatives voted in 2006 as they usually do.

How did the Independents and other Less-Than-Strict-Conservative Republicans vote in Connecticut in 2006?

How’s the weather up there in Connecticut? I hear Global Warming has been particularly severe in Connecticut. What are your representatives going to do about it? And if you don’t like it, are you going to vote them out of office? Or will you stay home until a real Conservative comes along.

Keep up your campaign against the Republican Presidential Nominee. He is your real enemy!

He didn’t win by overwhelming conservative vote, because he isn’t a conservative.

He didn't win by overwhelming Republican vote either... a dismal plurality.

I’ve about had my ration of egg-sucking Republicans telling
me to bite the pillow and vote for their liberal boy McCain.

The GOP lost Congress in 2006 because Independents and other Less-Than-Strict-Conservatives fled to the Democrats.

It sounds as though the Socialist GOP is going the way of the Whig party.

How did the Independents and other Less-Than-Strict-Conservative Republicans vote in Connecticut in 2006?

Well I didn't ask them but most of the incumbent Socialists in the GOP and Democrat parties kept their seats. However several lost their seats this past November as several municipalities increased Republican seats. Whether that translates into a Conservative movement remains to be seen.

How did the Independents and other Less-Than-Strict-Conservative Republicans vote in Connecticut in 2006?

Probably pretty much the way you would expect with a Socialist GOP Governor. She has bought into the global warming myth and supported legislation creating higher emission standards. Gotta love those left wing Republicans!

What are your representatives going to do about it?

Probably pass more left wing legislation.

And if you don’t like it, are you going to vote them out of office? Or will you stay home until a real Conservative comes along.

I'll do the same thing I have done in the past and vote Conservative! I know that's a novel and difficult concept for you to grasp.

Keep up your campaign against the Republican Presidential Nominee. He is your real enemy!

No, Socialism is my enemy. Obviously that is not the case with the GOP.

I hear ya! Those who support Socialists in the GOP like McAmnesty can't see past the "R" at the end of a candidate's name.

Do I like McCain? No, I do not, but I will have to vote for him over these two Marxists.

Why? So he can close Gitmo? So he can open our southern border? So he can grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens? So he can outlaw anything but milk-toast interrogations? So he can clog the courts with terrorists granted constitutional protections intended for US citizens? So he can treat our generals with the same disdain and lack of respect that he treated Rumsfeld with?

McCain is granted this mantle of strength on national defense. I don't understand why. He has been obstructionist in the execution of national defense as much or more as he has been supportive. Frankly, he is damn near Bipolar. It ain't the idiots you know about that get you hurt. It is the ones you don't pay attention to.

I answer to God first. Read Isaiah and Jeremiah. Even if i were not a fiscal and defense conservative as well, I could not vote for McCain. Supporting evil simply because it is already going to win is not an option.

There will be third party candidates on the ballot who's platform, message, and behavior is pleasing to God. Therefore they will get my vote.

Winning is important. It is not most important.

No, it is already lost because McCain will spend so much time reaching across the aisle that he might as well live there.
