"It's over" (Hillary supporter in Arkansas says Obama will win nomination)
ArkansasTimes.com ^ | February 18, 2007 | Max Brantley

I'd be happy to be wrong. For a variety of reasons, I'd prefer Hillary Clinton to be the Democratic presidential nominee.

But it's not going to happen. She'll be clobbered in Wisconsin tomorrow. She might run ahead, even win, the popular vote in Texas, but the delegate count will be close, probably pro-Obama. The media talk, the popular mood, the times -- they all work for Obama.

Finally, there's been the Clinton campaign. Fighting, seriously, today about Obama's borrowing of rhetoric from a friend is a sign of desperation. Obama is derivative. So is everyone. And Bill Clinton -- who knew? -- has proved to be a negative.

The media megaphone can't be underestimated.

Some of it is crazy. Some of it unfair. So is life.

Obama will win the nomination. Polls today say he'll beat McCain everywhere -- in every key state and nationally. Those same polls said the same thing about Hillary Clinton's sure dominance a few months ago.

For the record.

I don’t remember Rush’s exact words, but I share his sentiment: “I won’t believe it until the house falls on her and her feet roll up.”

Oh, what I'd give to be a fly on the wall within her sanctum sanctorum. Preferably in the shadows.

Behind shatterproof glass.

And a clear egress from The Rabbit Hole.

Obama has WI in the bag. Southeast Wisconsin is heavily African-American and unionized. And Madison has the die-hard liberals. Over 20,000 saw Obama at the Kohl Center in Madison.

I don't understand what the Clinton's got done in Ark that would generate these vocal supporters.

It's a personality cult. Accomplishments don't matter.

The last time Saturday Night Live did a live show (the writers have been on strike since last November), there was a sketch where all the Dem. nominees talk about how Hillary is inevitable (and were trying to come up with ways to appear to be a stronger candidate(s) than her).

And that episode aired on Nov. 3, 2007. A lot can change in a very short period of time.

I think it was that latest Texas poll showing a dead heat that has the Clinton people scared.

I don’t think it is over yet. But it is getting close.

There is no way that Hillary does not get the Dem nomination.

If Vegas is giving odds, then there is a fortune to be made.

Couldn't agree more. Plus, I chalk this alcohol fueled screed up to diminished expectations. It worked pretty well in New Hampshire.

Should Hillary win Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania and jump ahead in delegate and vote count, it’s going to be amusing watching all the liberal pundits and Democrat notables sneak in the night from Obama’s tent back to Clinton’s.

Dem. Nominees should have been Dem. Candidates.

Also, don’t forget the SEIU endorsement with over 1.9 million members strong across the nation. That is a LOT of ground support and additional donors.

I think Hillary is done. She is not Bill. I think we make the mistake that Hillary can get away with the same crap that Bill got away with - she can’t.

Rove was just on Fox saying that he thinks Wisconsin is closer than the polls show.

Setting up yet another Clinton "Come-Back Kid" scenario?

I think according to the legend, you need the shadow of a cross, and need to shoot it with a silver bullet, in order for the beast to be truly dead.

Wait, sorry, that’s the legend about vampires, I think.

Well, maybe that applies to Hillary too.

Less than 6% of Wisconsin is African American so there votes will not be a major factor. You are right about Madison, however the overall demographics in Wisconsin favor Hillary Clinton. As I said before even if she wins by 4 to 6 points tomorrow she will end up splitting the Wisconsin delegates almost evenly with Obama and hence Obama will maintain his big delegates lead going to the March 4th primaries.

Finally, there's been the Clinton campaign

Hey, Hillary Rodham hitched her star to William Jefferson Clinton more than thirty five years ago.

If Hillary really wanted to run as the first viable "female candidate" she should have stood alone, on her own record and divorced BJ back in 2001.

But, she chose the easy route, clinging to a man's coattails.

If these coattails bury her...so be it.

He may be even worse.

Inexperienced, naive and incompetent he may be.

But I doubt he is beholden to the ChiComms and as prepared to commit treason as Hillary is.

He will beat Obama. A campaign educates and there is a lot people don’t know about Obama and there are months ahead of us.
