What we have learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback and let me tell you something, For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I have seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues. It has made me proud."

Why does she want to be First Lady of a country she’s always been ashamed of?

This is so discusting!! This woman should be proud of her and our country every day she is alive to say so. The thing missing from all of those running in this election is how great it is to live in a country that a free election and all the crap that goes with it can happen!! Wake up Michelle, and smell the coffee!!

So she has been ASHAMED of the US up until now? The only thing I am ashamed of is that we haven’t gotten out of the UN and sent those tinpot dictators packing.

If they make it to the White House it will be the saddest day in the history of the United States. The big picture is even more sad. If they make it to the White House, it will actually be a victory over Hillary. The two choices are unthinkable.
And on the Republican side, all we have is McCain. Voting for McCain will be like...like...choosing to be shot instead of being thrown to the lions.
I'm starting to get interested in the Mayan calendar. 2012. Maybe something big will happen then. Maybe we'll have Jeb Bush against Chelsea Clinton.
Sometimes I feel like we are living in a TV sitcom, when I think about this election.

Four years of Obama, and Michelle’s pride will be tempered by reality. She may even be ready to vote for a conservative.

She’ll be calling for riots in the streets if Obama Hussein doesn’t get the nomination and she’ll be proud of that too.

From the locked thread:
Does Michelle Obama get depressed on Independence Day?
No kidding. Apparently she has never wept at the singing of the Star Spangled Banner; nor was she moved at what Manhattan and all of America did on 9/11 and in the weeks following (remember Stars and Stripes on everyone's houses?); never cheered for the US Olympic team; never, ever saw a baby being cradled by a US soldier in Iraq (or back home for that matter)...Etc etc etc.
If she were white I'd call her white trash. But I'm trying to tone down my rhetoric.

She's playing to their base......and they love it.
Hmmmm, I guess this is an eye-opener for me. I really thought I was who they were courting. I mean, after listening to BHO, it seemed like he was speaking my language because I'm all for change and hope and soft fluffy kittens, too!
Why, in fact, I got change at the coffee shop this morning, I hoped that the little plastic lid would stay on during the windy and sub-zero walk from the parking lot, and I fed my daughter's fluffy kitty before I left for work. But now this bit from her is just about enough to leave me disillusioned...

Re: "For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country, because it feels like hope is making a comeback." Michelle Obama
I wrote not long ago that Michelle Obama is a loose cannon, and I fear that her latest is not her last.
I would have thought that two Ivy-League degrees, a joint income of about a million dollars, exclusive private schools for the kids, and a nice home in the suburbs were not so bad and might suggest that hope had made a comeback well before Barack's presidential run.

I would love to see that. It would mean the end of the Democratic party as we know it.

She hasn't said anything other Democrats haven't been saying. At least she is feeling pride now, most Democrats have never been proud of the country.
