There’s really no good reason to run windows as the native host OS anymore.

You're not seriously going to contend that Windows runs faster under a VM environment than natively hosted are you?

I find it interesting that the Apple cultists like to mention with every other breath how an OS that they hate soooo much can be run under VM on their hardware platform. Are they getting a little insecure?

I hate to say it folks, but the darned things “just work”...

Not if your wife is the Microsoft programming guru that you claim and needs to get some work done under Visual Studio 2008 (unless you're running XP under a VM environment, but why slow yourself down that way?)

If I'm still using a PowerComputing Mac clone from 1996, am I still allowed to be snobby?

Yes, you are, my son. Go forth. Snob away.

I spent a few days on the hvac websites when I was needing a new heat pump. Believe me, people are opinionated about everything. LOL!

If you add more RAM you will seldom see either the spinning beach ball on the Mac or the spinning hour glass on pc...since the system no longer needs to use the swapfile on the hard drive as often.

Got data?

That bit of legwork would fall on you to provide.

I'm contending that running a VM system is slower that running the same system natively hosted. Prove me otherwise.

That is ONE CLEAN C64 breadbin. I haven’t seen one that nice since I pulled mine out of the box back in 1983. None of the usual yellowing, either. Nice, nice, nice.

Now I must assume that you got your FR handle from the villian in The Bards Tale...

Doh! never mind! it’s a VIC-20, not a 64. Duh. Still, that machine is in great shape.

Even worse, Macs can boot up the disgusting Windows OS in native mode. But if one must run Windows, I'd recommend running it in the virtual environment. It's safer to run Windows that way, instead of on bare metal.

I own both a MAC-10 and 11. I am not a snob.

Yes, more RAM always helps. So, here are my two choices:

1) PC - Go to any office supply store ore computer center and pick up some very inexpensive RAM, go home, install it, be back up and running with a faster system. No worries.

2) Apple - Go to a Mac snob store (usually painted in lavendar), talk to a "genius" wearing dockers and the requisite turtle-neck, purchase overpriced RAM (you can buy the cheaper non-Apple brand, but they always warn you to remove it before sending your machine in for servicing since it will void the warranty), go home, your system now runs faster - but you're still cursing yourself because you forgot to drop off your iPhone SO THAT THEY CAN CHANGE THE D*M&ED BATTERY!!!

Why would I boot up Windows in native mode on an Apple? Just so I can spend more money for the pleasure? No mac-boys that I know of run Windows natively, they all use VMware Fusion or Parallels.

Third-party RAM does not void Apple's warranty.

That’s what I’m using right now. Don’t see what’s wrong with it. My punch-card-to-html works great.

So your extreme reaction actually comes as a result of feeling stupid and taken advantage of?
