Will he say it's an uphill battle? Of course not. That is frequently the Democrats' undoing. Why do you think their much-vaulted "youth vote" always fails to deliver? Because they always think they've won. Witness John Kerry's 10%+ lead in the polls 6 months before he lost.
So why should the GOP be picking someone who's going to have an uphill battle (and is flat-out admitting it, and apparently okay with that sort of situation)? Doesn't make any sense to me.
I'll repeat: let them think they've won. It is the motivated party that wins. Not the over-confident one. The dems, in picking Obama, have made a very serious mistake: they are in love with a candidate they know very little about (and has little to offer other than "hope"). You, and others here that have serious doubts about Mccain, need to look forward about 4 months from now, when the candidates are debating head to head. Mccain will still be Mccain. He debates with fire and does not stumble. Obama the Great Orator? With no teleprompter? Cornered by Mccain on issue after issue? Do you think the Dems will still be enthralled once they see him stumble and stutter?

You need to study the results obtained from KSM when he underwent waterboarding for all of 1 minute, and the important information we retreived that saved countless American lives, both military and civilian.
Just saying a thing doesn’t make it true, and if you think it was waterboarding that wrecked the French in Algeria, you seriously need to take another look at that conflict. The differences between Americans in Iraq/Afghanistan and the French in Algeria are gigantic.
I expect thanks to the GOP country club set that the Repubs will lose the presidency. Name calling never works. I have good reason not to vote for McCain. I will no longer vote for flawed candidates merely because they have an “R” in from of their name.
I can not believe we are in this situation. The GOP really messed up this time...imagine McCain is the nominee after McCain-Feingold which I have no doubt he will force down our throats if elected as well as bringing back the fairness doctrine.

Obama is going to raise taxes on small business owners and on investment dividends by a third, and the rest of the upper brackets by about 10% of income. Your supporting it, any way you spin it, is being a socialist tool. He is also going to disengage from the war on terror and try appeasement and great whopping transfers to poorer countries instead. Your supporting it, any way you spin it, is being a defeatist and pacifist tool.
Oh and if you think you have voted for any unflawed or truly conservative candidate since 1984, you haven't been paying attention, or aren't a conservative yourself, or both. There aren't any.
He was asked that and yes he said he still supports it. He was on Larry King I think. He said his only mistake was in not assuring voters that he would secure the borders as if anyone would believe him.

There are only two candidates who were sitting VP’s during an 8 year or more administration who won a general election. The first one was Truman who had an incumbency advantage because of Roosevelt’s death. The other VP was George Bush I who of course was elected because of Ronald Reagan.
If we had a terrific candidate, it would be an uphill battle and maybe winnable. However, McCain is not a good candidate, and we will surely lose in November.
I thought the issue was support from the BASE, not the so-called party leadership.
The problems is that John McCain is not a conservative and has governed as a liberal these last eight years. I believe McCain did this to pay George Bush and the conservatives back for derailing the straight talk express in 2000. You can name call all you want, but many of us believe McCain does not have the temperament to be president and would be worse than either Dem.
We can expect the Repubs to oppose the Dem’s leftist follies, but not McCain’s leftist agenda. He could enact Dem policy and, Repubs would be blamed. McCain is not an acceptable candidate for me or other conservatives including Ann Coulter.
There are not enough whips or broken glass to induce me to vote for McCain.

Tell me, Do you think New Hampshire will be in the Repub column come November? I doubt it very much so why allow them to choose our candidate?
