Lakeway, TX – SAS Demands Recall Of ‘Defective’ Gun-Free Zone In Illinois!

Second Amendment Sisters is appalled at the carnage that is resulting from the establishment of ‘gun-free zones’ across the country. Sadly, this is the third demand for recalls this week, alone.

On Thursday, February 14, 2008, a former student was able to bring more than one gun into the ‘gun-free zone’ at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. By Friday morning the death count was up to seven with over thirty more wounded. Our heart-felt condolences go out to the families of the victims, along with our best wishes for a full recovery to the injured.

Not only is the campus of NIU a gun-free zone, the entire state of Illinois is a de facto gun-free zone. The governor and legislature have repeatedly resisted the requests of the citizenry for the right to carry in their home state. This shooting reminds us too readily of the recent killings in Tinley Park.

We cannot provide safety through proclamation. In addition to signaling an aggressor that he will meet little resistance within their boundaries, gun-free zones provide the potential victims within them with a false feeling of security. They are nothing more than protection-free zones. Too often they become killing zones.

Criminals, terrorists, sociopaths, and the unbalanced seek safe venues for their aggression. Gun-free zones provide this haven. Police arrived at NIU in less than five minutes from the time that the shooter entered the stage of the auditorium. By that time the murderer had killed himself.

While we understand that the people responsible for these gun-free zones were well intentioned, the result of their misunderstanding has been disastrous. Public safety has been severely adversely affected. It is time to acknowledge the abject failure of this experiment. The only guns that are kept out of a gun-free zone are those that belong to decent, honest citizens.

We suggest, instead, that citizens who have concealed carry permits once again be allowed into all areas of the community. The public is always the first line of defense against criminals and terrorists. We have a right to life; we have a right to protect that life and the lives of those around us; we have a right to the means to do so.

Second Amendment Sisters is a grassroots organization dedicated to preserving the individual basic human right to self-defense.

Amen to that. We may also want to stop sheltering our youths from the real world of dissapointment and hard ships that life can bring. I think this also plays a part in the kids going psycho these days.

Another mentally ill shooter.

This is another problem that, yes, the government and libs, have caused. Emptying the State Hospitals of the mentally ill!

I am familiar with the mental health system due to my line of work. They have literally dumped people with severe problems into the community under the guise of compassion! There are some people who want to eliminate the very word "diagnosis." It is now being compared to racism. The thinking is, if someone is taking their meds, then they are normal and no longer ill so should not be diagnosed with a mental illness.

Worth repeating for anybody traveling in Illinois with a gun concealed on their person, Illinois does not recognize any other states concealed carry permit.

It is a felony in Illinois.

I had a conversation about gun free zones with a lib aquaintance not too long ago. He feared that allowing citizens to go armed in these areas would create a free fire zone. I told him that I would rather find myself in a free fire zone than a shooting gallery, which is what the present system has created.

The ladies have their work cut out for them, trying to recall all these defective gun-free zones. Tragedies like this really call attention to the fact that we have a lot of people who aren't permitted by law to protect themselves. Think about it; you're not permitted by law to protect yourself. How senseless and cruel is that?

The public certainly needs an attitude adjustment as far as its perception of self-protection, and it's great to see the women of SAS out there doing their part for change.

I fully share the SAS viewpoint. Yet at one of the earlier Democrat debates, when it was referred to, the audience responded with derisive laughter.

Too many young people, particularly those in college, do not think. They haven’t been raised to think, but to follow. And when they are getting shot at, they run or shut their eyes and duck. They don’t tackle the shooter, or resist physically like that heroic old man in Virginia (Liviu Librescu). That involves judging, and their judgment was paralyzed in grade school.

Da Mayor's (Chicago's Daly) fair haired boy has always been a gun grabber. He helped lead the charge in the House for the Ugly Gun Ban and the Brady Instant Registration laws. Might as well contact Schummer, Fienstein, or Boxer.

Or another Chicago area policritter, B. Hussein Obama, who as former Constitutional Law instructor, believes that the second amendment "grants individual gun rights", but that those rights are subject to reasonable regulations, like DC and Chicago's total bans on whole classes of arms, even on keeping them in one's own home.
