I want food labeled so there is no guessing about quality.
Yes, I'll pay the extra damn penny. Geez.

I read about this in their newsletter back in November.

Good! Now if they will only build in Boise.

Where is this grocery chain, Trader Joe’s, located mostly? I’ve never seen one.

I went to buy some Christmas candy canes at CVS and I was shocked to see they were made in China. Needless to say, I passed them up.

I agree with the poster who said he or she does not buy any food that is not made in the US or Canada. I almost bought candy canes at Christmas in K Mart but did not when I found they were made in Mexico. Next day I saw candy canes in CVS and was shocked to find out they were made in China. Needless to say, I passed on these too. It is really depressing that now we even can not get candy canes made in our country.

I don’t shop in the hippie stores like joe’s or Whole Foods so I hope this trend continues with the conventional, normal grocery stores jumping aboard also.

I can't find edameme except from China. I used to buy it by the case. I stopped buying it almost a year ago, and wrote a letter to Trader Joe's telling them so.
Glad I played a small part in banning Chinese food imports.

This has kind of turned into a food thread. Lots of recommendations for sources of oriental condiments.

I run a small health food store and have to say customer demand is very weak on this. Regardless, I have sought out suppliers who have high qa/qc standards. They say to me they are doing what they can to reduce sourcing from China. Especially with vitamins and supplements, that is very hard to do. The only way is for the company to have both a strong qa/qc group testing every lot of what comes in plus third party testing for work overloads and additional expertise.
There are others, but in my research, so far, there are three stand-outs, Solgar, Blue Bonnett, and Olympian Labs. Another that may get my stamp approval once I have finished my homework on them is Country-Life.
I give my competition, Trader Joe’s, a standing ovation on taking the lead here. It is a lot harder to do than it seems. Suppliers are not always forthcoming with their sources. They try to avoid the subject and make blanket assurances they obviously can’t back up.
Moreover, the lengths you would have to go to in order to certify to your own satisfaction that all the ingredients are safe is simply overwhelming. That Trader Joe’s is commited to this puts them on the top of my list. This means they had to get tough with all their suppliers. They are showing more balls and backbone than anyone else among the large stores.
Notice the relative silence from Whole Foods, Mrs. Greens and others.

Good for them!
I only wish we had TJ’s here in Texas.
I can’t figure out why such a large state doesn’t have ONE.

It is time for people to batten down the hatches and start spending less and spending on products that come from nations that are non Commie and non Muslims and non Muslim friendly.
Pay down debt and start a movement against the establishment. And the establishment includes the Demoratic Party and elements of the GOP.
For now it’s HUCKABEE as the only candidate I would support in this year’s elections.
Either him or no one.

US grocery chain Trader Joe's said Monday it would stop selling food imported from China due to customers' concerns about the products' safety. Thank God. I hope more stores follow TJ's example.
