WASHINGTON (AP) --
Barack Obama has won Virginia's Democratic primary, defeating Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Obama is also hoping to capture first place in Tuesday's Democratic primaries in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Republicans are voting, too, and it looks like Mike Huckabee is making an unexpectedly strong challenge to John McCain in Virginia.
The Associated Press made its Democratic call based on surveys of voters as they left the polls.
THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

If he had they would sharing the same voters.
Horse dung. What, were conservatives suppose to vote for, leftist liberal Republicans in an effort to stop this Bush sponsored invasion?
I Blame years of Bush, and his liberal policies and this open border madness, with the Republican party all but following these liberals policies in lockstep..Forcing conservatives to head for the tall grass, looking for alternatives, and just opting out in total disgust.
The R's learned nothing in the 2006 election disaster.
Conservatives have fragmented like a grenade, with no real conservative candidate that ever had a chance of winning, so it would seem. Either that or the fix was in long ago.
If I were Obama I would not put Hillary on the VP ticket...he would have to watch his back all the time as Hill or Bill would be trying to take him out...wouldn’t be good.
It’s also very series!
My beeber is stuned.
So you pity me....
well,...isn’t that SO special!
Talk to me in November. In either case, we've become at present, a de facto single party nation, with no room for conservatives. Conservatives right now face a choice, whether to work "within" the Republican party and try to win it back as their home (IMHO, a futile effort), or band together and form their own party.
Conservatives who choose to stay in the party in congress and at the state and local levels will only continue to be marginalized...at a slower pace if a Dem wins the presidency, but eventually nonetheless.
Hey, don’t hog all the pity for yourself, there are other ‘Obama lovers’ here! (And frankly I think they outnumber the ‘flushers’ with their hands deep in the RINO shiite!)
I guess your reading limit is only 7 words per sitting???
(hint: the answer is RIGHT UNDER THE FIRST FRIGGIN SENTENCE!!!)
Just what I think, except I’m holding back on teh Anti-Christ part, at least for now.
I'll tell ya now. With McCain, the Republicans will be beat like a drum in November.
I guess that was a bit much. But I am still suspect, LOL.
LOL....that's what I said, and you said "horse dung." You need to get your story straight.
Idiots aren’t conservative.
Bush and his cronies drove the party over a cliff into deep water. You didn’t notice right? Did ya happen to notice the ‘06 election disaster?
I’m fully aware of 06 but I want to stay current and what is in front of us now.
Is Bush to blame for McCain’s resume? McCain/Feingold, McCain/Lieberman, McCain/Kennedy. His hatred for conservatives is because of Bush - the conservatives put GW in office and not him. Blaming Bush for McCain’s record is truly over the top. Check out this thread.
