I believe that the voters in this Republican nomination contesthere in Virginia and across the countrydeserve a real choice. And Governor Huckabee is clearly the conservative alternative. He is the best choice, and he is my choice. So I am voting for him on Tuesday, here in Virginia.
I dont buy the idea that John McCain is a true conservative. Nor do I buy the idea that Mike Huckabee should get out of this contest. The people in the Potomac areaVirginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. In addition, we have many important states coming up, including my home state of Wisconsin. Folks in all those states deserve a choice a real choice.
I had been a supporter of Mitt Romney, but now I am very glad that Governor Huckabee has decided to stay in the race. I appreciate that he is staying in, just as I appreciate that Governor Huckabee and Senator McCain are not going at each others throatsa vigorous debate about important issues is the healthiest thing possible for the Republican Party.

Look - Huckabee is at least a social conservative and an unafraid protector of the 2nd amendment. As for balancing budgets, he did that very well in AR.
What is this vitriol against Huckabee from some in the Republican party?
Its McDole.
yeah I just couldn’t understand that. I would think a real social conservative would be very tough on crime.
He is a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment so maybe he’s hoping you would shoot the people he pardoned.
I voted for huckabee. but I just wish he was better
“What is this vitriol against Huckabee from some in the Republican party?”
He’s a dreadful candidate, is all.
“Huckabee, I came close to supporting him, and if we were running for some sort of religious organization, I would support him, but were not. He has compromised on so many conservative issues, I simply cant be for him. Every time you turn around, hes taking the wrong stand on a different issue. ~~Paul Weyrich, when explaining his Romney endorsement——————————
Now he does this about face and supports Huckabee?
No conservative is a hasbeen.
Apparently, according to him, McCain is worse. I think it is a tie.
LOL! he's been in Congress for 25 years. He's been in a position to do more than "want" for the past quarter century.
2003s $558 billion Medicare drug entitlement
Your math is making aboust as much sense as your previous post. 2008's total proposed Medicare outlay is 386B.
Yet you are claiming that 2003 saw 558B in Medicare drug benefits alone.
OK, let me attempt to show you the outright hypocrisy of supposed conservatives on this.
Mitt Romney was annointed as the “conservative” candidate by Rush, Laura, Sean, Anne and the rest, right? Let’s see how conservative he is:
(1) Won Michigan by prominsing $20 billion in federal spending on their state if elected.
(2) Passed a state run health care bill while governor of MA - one which he knew would be required by law to use tax payer money for abortion (after he was pro life)
(3) Raised fees of $300 to $500 billion (Depending on who you believe) while governor. You realize that if Huckabee would have just supported tolls on his roads in AR (a fee), then the Club For Growth would probably have given him a pass on that (as they did Mitt)?
(4) Mitt is against the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy, said he would be better for gay rights than Ted Kennedy and looked forward to the day when they could serve openly in our military.
(5) Mitt is for restrictions on purchasing and ownership of guns. Said he was an avid hunter, but then said he might have done it once or twice in his life.
I can go on and on and on, but you get the point.
You do what you want.
I loathe all the candidates. I wouldn’t vote for them in the primary and I won’t vote for McInsane in November.
Y’all keep saying you can with without “us”. Do it.
he is a supply sider but not hard core. He’s not going to be first in line to cut the top marginal rate. He won’t raise it either to soak the rich. He knows that would just hurt the economy and lower revenues.
It’s a Teddy Roosevelt thing. He wants to combine TR and Reagan.
So, are you just against evangelicals or do you have some other reason to leap frog from Thompson to McCain?
I had read that posted here, so, distasteful though it may be, I just went to the Naral website to check. They don’t like him; on 117 issues, he voted “anti-choice” (their words) on 113. So that’s a positive thing!
I don’t like his stem cell vote, for two reasons: it’s anti-life, and it’s more big government spending. But you’re right, the rest of his voting record isn’t bad.
Mitt Romney was defeated by the squirrel-eating wing of the party and the Washington party-going insiders. He threatened them both for different reasons.
After doing my own research on the candidates long ago, before all the spin started coming out, I chose Huckabee as he was the one that I thought was the most electable and the most conservative on important issues. I love the fair tax and I love the fact that he signed the no amnesty pledge and the no new taxes pledge. I love he is pro-life, pro-marriage and the most pro-gun candidate in the race. I also think he is easily the best communicator and the best politician of the bunch.
So, I am glad you voted for him.
ok just make sure you don’t lose all your life savings when Obama wins because that will happen to a lot of Americans. Convert all your cash and investments to gold and hide it very well for at least 4 years. And stock up on gas and ammo. He will be the next Carter.
He’s admitted that finance is not a strength for him.
I guess you’re saying Weyrich is no conservative, because he’s certainly a hasbeen.
