There is no race. McCain will win. The military will not support Huckabee nor will the Northern or Western Republicans.

The notion that Huckabee cant win simply isnt at all true. Republican states are mostly winner-take-all It is not a mathematical impossibility. That part is about all that is true. But it is so unlikely as to be obvious to all but the delusional at this pont.
...and as to most GOP states being winner take all...I believe that most of the ones left are proportional when taken as an entire state. Maybe winner take all by precinct, congressional district, or county...but not at all by state. Almost all of those have already voted.

Huckabee and McCain in a horse race! Wow. This is just plain depressing.
It’s like my doctor announcing with breathless excitement that he’s not sure whether the crotch rot will destroy my genitalia before the gonorrhea does, or vice versa.

If Huckabee gets enough delegates to override an automatic nomination for John McCain, can real conservatives wring out concessions with McCain or thwart his candidacy in some way?

The RNC might soon come up with some damaging stuff on Huck to stop him climbing on their boy McCain. Or stop all future primaries to stop McCain's slide This is the same kind of votes McCain is counting on in November, the Anti-Hillary vote is now taking a shot at McCain.

I hate polls. These days, I think they do more to try and influence selection than they do to monitor current state of opinion.

McCain is bad enough. Huckabee would be a “let’s form a new party”-sized mistake.

All he has to do is win 85% of the remaining delegates

Mit should give his delegates to Huck .... then we would have a real race and McCain could be tested to see if he can take the pressure of such a move without going Deandong.
He is very old and has a temper. We need to know if he can still keep it together.

NO republican can or will win the presidency.. and we will probably loose many additional seats in COngress too..
We need a think tank of what to do at the convention.. and beyond..
Cause the democrats WILL WIN.. not MIGHT win..
At the convetion a political declaration of war should be delivered.. or some other radical line in the sand..

National polls were useless before the primaries started. Now that over 30 States have already voted they are worse than useless. McCain needs a certain number of additional delegates to clinch and he will seek them in the States that haven’t voted yet and he will be awarded them according to the varying rules in place in each one. A national poll snapshot of generic preferences between McCain and Huck tells us nothing about how this will play out.
