Rampaging RINOS

Conservatives should think twice about bolting the GOP

Sunday, February 10, 2008

By Jack Kelly, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

If you read the threads on conservative Web sites (which these days takes a strong stomach), you'll encounter frequently the acronym "RINO." It stands for "Republican In Name Only," an appellation that self-styled conservative purists apply to any Republican who disagrees with them about anything.

That epithet has been applied most frequently to Arizona Sen. John McCain. But his former chief rival for the GOP nomination, former Massachussetts Gov. Mitt Romney, also has been derided as a RINO, as have former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. Every GOP candidate who rose above the asterisk level in the primaries has been called a RINO.

The epithet is ridiculous, because it assumes that being conservative and being Republican are identical. Teddy Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower were good Republicans, but they weren't conservatives. Nor were Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon, Bob Dole or George H. W. Bush.

A political party is a conspiracy to obtain power, nothing more. In democratic politics there is nothing wrong with that, because the conspiracies are peaceful, open and -- in a two-party system -- moderating. For Republicans to be successful, they must embrace moderates as well as conservatives. This means moderates get to lead from time to time.

But the dyspeptic denizens of the Right believe in addition by subtraction. To make the GOP stronger, moderates must be calumnized and driven from it. Polemicist Ann Coulter is so angry with Mr. McCain's occasional........

Yet another know-it-all moderate-to-liberal Yankee RINO trying, with his air of superior knowledge and understanding, to tell us principled Conservatives what to do...

even by projecting upon us the incorrect (for us) mantle of RINO.

Eat sh*t and die, media puke.

It's the likes of left-leaning turds like you and mccain that bare destroying our party from the inside out, not us.

We are NOT going to vote for a "Trojan Horse' RINO like mccain, but we ARE going to come out in droves to vote for CONSERVATIVE opposition to liberal RINOs and dems, by keeping/putting steadfast CONSERVATIVES in congress.

According to the ACU ratings

When you have to make up stuff about your canidate, you have all ready lost the argument.

McCain's current ACU ranking is 65. Out of 49 Republican Senators, he ranks 45th. This is why you McCainiacs gain no ground in Freeper poll after poll. You keep trying to spin to us a McCain we know doesn't exist.

You cannot spin us on McCain, We know his real record. When you Establishment Republican types try to spin us on McCain it just pisses us off. We know far more about him then any of you do.

See, we don't just regurgitate the carefully air brushed McCain record fed you by the McCain campaign. So instead of screaming invective at us, perhaps you might want to actually listen to what we are telling you. After all, your candidate needs our votes. Screaming invective at us is only going to accomplish one thing, solidify the negative attitudes Conservatives have about Senator McCain.

Perhaps you might want to try something easier?

Read McCain-Lieberman, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Kennedy-Edwards, McCain-Feingold, Gang of 14...notice something odd? All this major legislative accomplishments involve agreeing with Democrats. None of them are McCain-other Republican. Curious record for a candidate Establishment Republicans are desperately trying to recreate as a "85% Conservative"

Memo to Jack: Kiss my butt.

Speaking of "Jacks", RINOS and folks who should kiss your butt as well, I saw Jack "I can't go to Vietnam, but I can play for the RAMS" Kemp yesterday. Slamming Hannity for not falling in line and embracing Uber Rino McCain. Man I hate this wimpy rebubican.

It's time to clean house.

It's us or the damn Rinos. Let's get them first.

Regards

I believe I read a few days ago that the person who was instrumental in getting Souter nominated for the S. C. is one of John McCain’s advisors in this election. As far as I am concerned, it is 6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other between McCain and Clinton or Obama.

You and me are in full agreement. We have a man who has opposed us, the party, the president..you name it, for a decade. He has called us names, ridiculed us, and fought many of our ideas. But the eastern establishment still nominates him.

I held my nose and voted for Dole. I haven’t failed to vote and vote Republican since Gerald Ford. But it’s over. They can call me every name in the book. I live in Arizona. I know what McCain is, a human lizard. He gets elected with the Dems throwing up a token candidate so they can support McCain. McCain is a liberal. I will not be threatened or bludgeoned into voting for this piece of excrement. The party needs to be taught a lesson.

If it will help at the lower levels, by all means show up at the polls. In my district, we have an incumbent feminist Democrat and no statewide races. I’ll be doing something else this time.

Never vote for a democrat. It’ll be a stain on your life that you will regret.

McCain deliberately flaunted the fact he didn’t buy the party line each & every time ... which most pubbies can understand, excepting the flaunting part. The ‘deliberating flaunting’ part by McPain was an effort to ingratiate himself with the liberal MSM. They fawned over him for shafting conservatives at nearly every opportunity ... he loved the adulation ... and now is going to pay the price.
McCain is a hot dog, a loose cannon and a RINO. His stripes won’t change in spite of his effort to camouflage them ... he is what he is.

McCain must be supported, as distasteful as that prospect sounds.

Must? LOL...where's your barf alert?

You worried about obama's agenda?

The Republicans will oppose anything they need to with him, but with McCain, he's already shown a propensity to prefer democratic positions to republican positions, and that's what he'll advance.

The difference is that with McCain YOU will be helping to advance socialism. You. You will end up saying things like "we must support" McCain whenever he advances another liberal plan.
