Fox News has learned that the Huckabee campaign has called for a “full investigation” into the Washington State Caucus results, and are sending campaign lawyers to the state to help in that pursuit. Ed Rollins, Huckabee campaign chairman, directly challenged Washington State GOP Chairman Luke Essers move in anounncing that John McCain had won the tight race with only 87.2 percent of the votes counted.

” The chairman showed very bad judgement in stopping the voting last night when announcing John McCain had won, when there was less that a 200 vote margin between the two candidates,” Rollins told Fox in an exclusive interview.” You never announce a vote, in my 40 years of politics I have never know anybody to announce a vote count before the vote is counted.”

Unfortunately after Hunter withdrew I have no horse in this race; however, I stand with “Just count the votes!”

What does he say happened? My guess is that all the undecided voters were credited to McCain, when in fact, they were a protest against McCain’s early nomination.

Maybe all the Romney delegates decided to vote for McCain to keep Huckabee from winning.

Rollins was quick to say that they were not accusing the McCain campaign of any impropriety but that their issue was soley with the Esser’s “bad judgement”.

Fox News was given unprecedented access to a strategy session today, with the Huckabee campaign inner circle. Ed Rollins, the national campaign chairman, lead the meeting where the main topic was how to challenge the Washington caucus results. Rollins also said their attorneys have attempted to contact Essers but as of this writing he had not returned their phone calls.

According to the state tally,McCain won 26 percent of delegates, Huckabee garnered 24 percent.

The Washington GOP insiders want McCain, including the Washington AG, Rob McKenna. McKenna had the power and the duty to investigate election fraud in 2004 and chose not to do so. Said he didn’t have the authority to do so. He is a lying SoS.

I liked McCain at 7%,that’s where he was a few weeks ago. Then the Washington establishment types put on a full court press and look where we are today.

I think it’s a shame that more people don’t draw a line in the sand.

The message needs to be sent clearly that if you cross that line (in this case, lying and manipulating the election in West Virginia) then you will be left in the cold should you later need support from those you cheated.

He got his 18 delegates (his thirty pieces of silver) out of the deal. Hope that makes him happy because I will not lift a finger for Huckabee or offer one word of protest for however unfairly he is treated by either McCain or (if it came to it) Obama or Hillary. Not unless he offers a direct apology to Mitt Romney and his supporters for that action in West Virginia.

There are 200 voters whose votes are being discarded.

Would any of us like that to happen with our own votes?

I think not - forget the candidate for a minute and think about the people - all 200 of them who cast their ballots - they have a right to be counted.

It goes along with the whole gig doesn’t it? Being counted?

My caucus actually had the largest group of voters voting undecided. I had suggested that we withhold our votes from McCain, entirely, until we get assurances that the primary system will be changed so that this never happens again and i got a round of applause. I hope that the people didn’t put undecided down as part of my protest.

Is this true? Only a 200 vote spread or 26% to 24%?

The GOP in Washington isn't showing the raw vote anymore (though they were last night). You can still pick it up on CNN here CNN:

Washington Caucuses Updated 1:30 a.m. EST, Feb 10, 2008 County Results McCain 3,468 26% 0 Huckabee 3,226 24% 0 Paul 2,799 21% 0 Romney 2,253 16% 0 Uncommitted 1,729 13% 0 87% reporting

200 votes margin with just 87% votes counted... Huck is right on this.

Yup, 100% correct. It's not like ALL the votes were counted and he calls for a recount because he didn't like a 200 vote margin of defeat.
