Fox News has learned that the Huckabee campaign has called for a “full investigation” into the Washington State Caucus results, and are sending campaign lawyers to the state to help in that pursuit. Ed Rollins, Huckabee campaign chairman, directly challenged Washington State GOP Chairman Luke Essers move in anounncing that John McCain had won the tight race with only 87.2 percent of the votes counted.
” The chairman showed very bad judgement in stopping the voting last night when announcing John McCain had won, when there was less that a 200 vote margin between the two candidates,” Rollins told Fox in an exclusive interview.” You never announce a vote, in my 40 years of politics I have never know anybody to announce a vote count before the vote is counted.”

That's the key. However, this is a fact.
For all McCain’s bluster and grandstanding about being a Maverick©, he’s a Washington insider through and through. The establishment wants him, and they won’t countenance any impertinent disagreements from the voters.

Gov. Huckabee finishes a strong second
Tukwila, WA…Washington State Republican Party Chairman announced tonight that Senator John McCain has won the 2008 Republican precinct caucuses in Washington State. With 87.2 percent of precincts reporting statewide, Sen. McCain leads the GOP field with 25.5 % of delegates. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee took 23.7 %, Texas Congressman Ron Paul 20.6 %, and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney won 16.5 %. Approximately 12.7 % of delegates reported their preference as “uncommitted”, while another 1.1% reported their preference as “other.”
Washington State Party Chairman Luke Esser released the following statement this evening, “What a great day for Washington Republicans. They came out in full force today to support their candidates, and to make their voices heard. Congratulations to Sen. McCain for a hard-fought win, his second caucus victory in the 2008 presidential nomination process. And congratulations to Gov. Huckabee for his strong second-place finish.”
The percentages reflect the preferences of delegates who were chosen at precinct caucuses around the state earlier today. A final report is not expected to be available until Monday, February 11.

What does that have to do with anything? This is POLITICS. All the Huckabbee staff needs to know is just a bit more than MSM does about it which ain't no hill for a climber. McCain has REAPED big time rewards from the MSM. But the MSM has a lot of paid reporters to cover the news and right now Huckabee is playing like the cheap fiddle they are.
That would require a willingness to use an election challenging device, and the little cartridges that go into the magazine of the election challenging device.

Well after McCain had it, so your point is moot. Had he endorsed after dropping out during the thick of it, your comment might actually have some merit.
Your point goes from having no merit to being ridiculous given that you are a Huckabee supporter - what basis do you have to lecture anyone on not supporting a "true conservative" when you promote yourself boldy as an "unashamed" supporter of Huckabee's socialist candidacy - the most liberal candidate in the race?
It's not a raw vote turnout, but a count from elected delegate: Here's the note that was put on the New York Times website:

The process is far from transparent. One should hope and expect that the GOP would put another statement on their website explaining exactly what happened.

Actually, as a political spectator for over a half century, I am having fun watching things that I have never seen before. McCain is in a box. He may have thought he was locked up over there in North Viet Nam. But Huckabee has him in a box too.McCain can either give Huckabee what he wants which is the VP nomination or Huckabee is going to loiter around during mischief to whatever the political hopes of this Keating Five Guy has of looking like a confident and winning candidate for President. Huckabee was making fun of McCain and his campaign when he released the fact that Rick Perry had called him to drop out. Huckabee has NO INCENTIVE to drop out short of getting what he wants. And the fact is that victory in Kansas was a protest vote and McCain is going to have to work and spend money to keep from being humilitated like that again and that may not be enough if the unhappy conservatives figure out that they can humiliate McCain by voting for Huckabee. A smart politician and someone with leadership skills would cut his losses and give Huckabee what he wants. But McCain's military temperament not political smarts are guiding him. He would surely like to have Huckabee court martialed for insubordination but that is not how politics. The boy from Arkansas taking this Annapolis boy to school big time.

Has Fred endorsed McCain? If so, can you provide a link? I haven't seen anything on that. Not that it would surprise me at this point. With only McCain and Huckabee left in the race, who did you think he woud endorse? Huckabee is just as bad as McCain,just in other ways, and at least Fred is friends with McCain, so that would make sense.

Excellent point, the only thing that would piss off McCain more would be having to pick Romney as VP, so perhaps McCain needs to count his blessings. :o)
Running for president sure has paid off for Huckabee. Worst case, he’s become a national figure and can make a fortune on the media/lecture circuit. Best case, he gets the VP nomination.
Me too. It is a very entertaining election year. I do not, however, think Huckabee is vieing for VP. At least not with McCain. I've come to believe he is way too smart to join up with a certain November loser.

I guess what this shows is that the attendees to the various caucuses were fairly evenly split among the candidates.......
This was nothing more than a survey/indication of the leaning of the delegates that were selected from each precinct caucus that will go on to the county caucus later and from the County they will finally select a group to the State convention to be in May.
This wasn’t a vote as you’d see like standing in a group or voting on a machine in private.

Why should they???? Politics is just their “business”. Why should they know anything about how it works?
Wonder how the Huck crew will be when they run the country? Guess they won’t actually know how that process works either.
