Wow.

I have no intention of voting for him but the beatings are getting really bad.

Love your point....John McCain gets up and pontificates about his principles yet we’re not allowed to have any?

Do you have somebody who will do a website? This is exactly what I hoped would happen there.

Good luck to your district. May a Republican stand tall and keep the seat.

So I heard correct about her quitting it seems.

Donna Brazille is a super-delegate?

This is a story some journalist should be pursuing...who are the super-delegates and how do they get their jobs?

That would be a job Karl Rove would do well.

Mike Duncan is the current chair of the RNC... and he’s been pretty much dead silent. The only time I’ve heard him at all as of late has been when they stripped the early states of half their delegates.

A lot of times, it’s state law, not party rules, that dictates an open or closed primary.

And who wrote those laws? State Party politicians, most of whom want to move up into the National party politics eventually.

I suggest the partys tell the primedonna states, "move your primaries to Super Tuesday or we will not seat your delegates". Rather then cater to the egos of small state politicians, the Partys should rationalize this process. If the small states don't like it, too bad. (And considering we have only 10 electoral votes, I live in a small state and still think this a great idea.)

Either move everything to a single primary day or have regional primary days. For example SE States, then NE, Northern Mid west, Gulf states, Great Plains, SW states, then Pacific Coast. Rotate it so that each region gets the chance to be 1st.

I agree Laverne, people put too much faith in the polls, I think. I personally think the polls are the lazy media way of reporting news.

Mostly party bosses, sitting Democrat congressmen, and former Presidents.

Republicans have a few superdelegates but not nearly as many as the Democrats.

“I heard some blistering dirt on McCain....blistering.

I won’t put it on a public forum cause....well I’d rather wait till the Clintons bring it up.”

Just freepmail all of us with the dirt. We’ll keep it secret. Promise. ;^)

As such we do not nominate. Each party chooses their leader in parliament by the parliamentary members from their party voting. Different parties have different rules and at one time the Conservative party did allow individual members to vote but now it has reverted back to the members in the House of Commons. Then whichever party gets the majority of seats at the election their leader becomes Prime Minister.

Each local Conservative constituency picks their candidate if the candidate has voted again party lines or been disgraced in any way during the current parliament and the whip has been taken from them (party support in other words) then the local party cannot put them forward as an official candidate at the next election. They keep their seat until then though.

The local constituency members vote on a list of candidates put forward this is done by post as it is only the members of the local party entitled to vote and in some cases that may only be a few thousand if that. The list will include people nominated from the local committee plus often candidates that central office want.

Sometimes there is more than one round if the candidate fails to get the required percentage first time and candidates getting under a certain percentage cannot not progress to the second round.

That is basically it rules change each time so the above might not be 100 per cent correct but the basic outline remains the same.

many conservatives will not support him or vote for him. If John McCain can vote on principle, so can we.

Which is exactly what I intend to do. I will not stay home, but I will only vote the down ticket.

Hamloaf is made like meatloaf, only it contains ground ham and ground pork. It has a brown sugar glaze.

I believe that MOST Americans go through their days not seeing or reading ANY national news, unless it is on the Leno or Letterman or Colbert or Black Entertainment or MTV shows.

Sean Hannity used to have a man on the street segment on his show where an assisstant asked people to name the vice-president of the US. Only rarely coold anyone on the streets of New York City do it.

Big media fear the power of Rush Limbaugh, for example, and want to shut him down. He claims twenty million listeners (in what kind of time interval, I do not know) but that means that two hundred and eighty million people in America are not listening to a word he says.

I do not even know the name of the chairman of the RNC right now

RINO Sen. Mel Martinez just resigned as chairmanm. I think a Bill Duncan (?) is acting chairman. They will probably appoint someone Bush and McCain can agree on.

Frankly I’m not at all sure it’s even remotely true.

The rumor casts serious aspersions on McCain’s military and POW status.

I’m not hesitant about repeating rumors although I’m betting most of you on this thread already heard it. But I try not to if I don’t have much faith in the rumor.

For instance, it’s a rumor, scuttlebutt and speculation that Paulus Vandersloot was the fine man who took his son’s dead date out to the Aruban ocean and dumped her overboard.

I believe this so I’ll happily repeat it.
