That’s exactly what happened in 1972. Edmund Muskie was the leading candidate for the Democratic nomination when William Loeb, the publisher of the Manchester Union, had published some nasty things about Muskie. In fairness to Muskie, Loeb had nasty things to say about virtually everyone.

Muskie teared-up at a news conference when discussing what the Manchester Union said about him and the support for his candidacy collapsed right after.

I had never heard of Obama on Wednesday, and Thursday his meditative visage was splashed on every birkenstocker magazine cover in America. What had he accomplished, I wondered. A means of time travel? A cancer cure? I perused, prodded and peeked, and found that he was the new spirit of free tofu to working families or some such tommyrot. It is astounding, and amusing, the things that the drive by media try to pull. Just what the co-twofer has accomplished puzzles me quite as much. Lies, idiocies, the politics of envy, enabling a sociopath. Believe me, I am being kind here. I wish them well in their personal lives. Please leave politics, you ex-twofers, unless you can further disunite the gimmicrat party. Let Bubba sort shelves at the Clinton Double Wide liberry and Hillary dispense gizmos at the Planned Parenthood Center.
