The governor never tires of telling us that he grew up on a farm.
Gee, who'da thunk it?
Well, me for one. Over the course of these "town meetings" on his multibillion-dollar toll-and- spend scheme, our governor has undergone a personality change. The first few sessions featured docile crowds that were willing to sit back and absorb the wisdom of a Wall Street whiz who spoke with great authority on matters of high finance. But once the crowds wised up, Gov. Jon Corzine started to look like the bumbler he was when he first entered politics eight years ago.
The lovefest was clearly over by the time the former farm boy made a trip to the Jersey Shore. A crowd in Toms River booed and shouted throughout his presentation. The results weren't much better in Monmouth County a few nights later. This was a tough crowd. When Corzine talked about the need to raise money to fund care for the developmentally disabled, he no doubt expected to generate the same warm, fuzzy feeling that such a cause generated in prior audiences.
"Stop the scare tactics!" some guy yelled as a chorus of boos arose.
And when the governor remarked that the Garden State Parkway needs widening because its southern section is "one of the most dangerous roads in the coun try," one guy yelled, "You know it!" This was a clear reference to Cor zine's near-fatal accident on that stretch of road last year. Prior crowds had evinced sympathy. This crowd burst out into applause and laughter.

Corzine was a kid in Taylorville, Ill., back then, so he had no answer for the old gent. He's got no answers for anyone who doesn't share the assumptions that got us into this mess in the first place.
Go Jersey.
NO!! Let New Jersey keep him, we don’t need him screwing up the rest of the country.
That politician, (Edwin Edwards) went to prison. New Jersey reelects their criminals.
“Gee, looks like the peasants don’t like Corzine’s turnpike plan. Back to the drawing boards. Maybe he could cut some spending?”
Jersey, aside from needing every politician to be imprisoned can do something very simple.
Tell every state employee that starting tomorrow, all the sick time and vacation time the accumulated for retirement is gone. They will now be on a use it or lose it policy.
Call it pay as you go.
One of New Jersey's biggest problems is that its financial chaos come thoroughly ingrained in the state's character -- not by the state's political class (though they have certainly been a major contributor), but by the people themselves.
One statistic I read recently indicated that one out of every seven workers in the state of New Jersey is employed by various levels government. If that's the case, then I don't think it would be unreasonable to assume that 80% of the state's residents have a close family member (spouse, parent, sibling or child) who profits immensely from this institutionalized financial dysfunction.
THAT is why New Jersey will likely be the first state in the U.S. to become completely insolvent.
Ouch! When a state’s pols are even more corrupt than those in Louisiana, you know it’s bad. The people of NJ have my sympathy. I assume they stay because they can’t escape.
not necessarily, rem: N.J...is a predominately 'RAT state. (i.e. the dead vote repeatedly...and often in other locales. :)
Though, I certainly don't disagree with you, I do think the educational system has very little to do with behavior of the peasants of N.J.
I simply think the "people" have finally realized after 8 years of being feed various levels of B.S. and lies from the Clinton's and 8 years of BDS, politicians simple are no better than the snake oil salesman at your door and are treated as such.
“yeah, but they’ll continue to vote for him...”
unbelievable how new jersey people continue to vote for democrats from the same democrat machine.
some say insanity is when one does the same thing over and over again to one’s own detriment.
