Maybe someone can post a table with the remaining states and how their delegates would have to split to keep McCain out.

Thanks

Thats a positive note.. an extreme longshot but positive..

I wonder how many registered republicans will vote for Hillary because shes a woman.. or will enact Universal Health Care or both.. or for Obama because hes black more or less.. You know the affirmative action President.. Affirmative action on crack..

True its time to start planning how to hijack the republican convention.. or if not hijack then derail it.. Because it appears the republican train is running wild.. or has a democrat engineer passed out drunk...

As it stands now, more and more conservatives are declaring their intentions to sit out the general

That would depend on who the opponent is. We don't always get what we want, but if Hillary is the nominee and conservatives still decide to sit it out because of a childish tantrum, it would be no less than an act of treason. They already did that once in 2006 and a fat lot of good that did us.

And risk Huck actually becoming the nominee? I want him off the stage—now!

Nice try. But, you’re locking the barn door and the cows have done run off.

We did not get in this mess just off this election cycle. Like it or don’t, but our most recent Republican presidents have been far from conservatives of the brand that we hope for. The party has moved left and McCain is a good fit.

I already voted (for Mitt - Huckabee won Tennessee) and I do hope that a brokered convention might happen and someone besides McCain get the nod. If he does, may once again swallow the same spit as I have done several times in the past when voting

The national political conventions are the pinnacle of energy and enthusiasm for a Party's nominee. The signs, balloons, confetti, the wild cheering and excitement help to 'fire up' the traditional base and other Party faithful for the fall campaign (for both parties).

Now I could be wrong here,,,but I just CANNOT imagine a wildly cheering, enthusiastic, energized and excited 'conservative base' cheering on the acceptance speech from John McCain. Heck, he might even get booed by some (unless the RNC closely screens the delegates closely).

I think this is flawed logic. Failing to vote for McCain is the best way to put a Democrat in the White House. Every poll (not that they mean that much) says McCain is the one R who can beat Hillary or Obama. Read the article on Realclear politics by Robert McFarlane that ends with this:

“there is the cost of their extremist rhetoric to the Republican Party. As President Reagan once told me, “Going over the cliff, flags flying, is still going over the cliff.”

Here's the data to date. Give me a couple of minutes to analyze the breakdown of remaining delegates and I will add ot to the table with a table of remaining state primaries and respective delegate counts. Note: estimate is based off combined total.

TOTAL 1191 TO WIN - TOTAL OUTSTANDING 1035
CANDIDATE # PLEDGED # UNPLEDGED COMBINED TOTAL # NEEDED % NEEDED
MCCAIN 697 17 714 477 46.10%
HUCKABEE 178 3 181 1010 97.58%
PAUL 16 0 16 1175 113.5%
ROMNEY 286 0 286 905 87.43%

It’s even more important to truly make sure that all conservative voters do turn out on November 4 to vote for truly conservative candidates for Congress all the way down to the most local levels of political office! Turnout truly needs to be heavy on the conservative side if we all don’t want long-term socialism to take over the U.S. soon!

Jim

That’s what I was trying to do with my posts for double teaming FRed and Mitt.

I thought, perhaps, it had crossed you somehow, and that’s why my posts we’re being “Reviewed” before being allowed to appear.

I fully support blocking McManiac, in any way, shape, or form.

Some state by state organization required. As winner take all standard could help McCain with continued split vote. I don’t care who we pick as long as it’s one candidate. It seems to make sense for the Huckster. However with few options I’m certainly open.

I need help with these questions.

Wouldn’t it be best to vote for Huckabee to let him take the delegates from McCain?

Do those candidates who left the race still receive delegates if the state isn’t a winner take all state?

Since Fred said to rally behind McCain because he is the presumed nominee mean Fred’s 8 delegates go to McCAin?

I am all for making McCain lose on the convention floor, it that is possible!

The math says that McCain will be hard to stop. It's possible I guess but the remaining states would have to vote in an order such that McCain would be kept under the 492 delegates he currently needs to win. Not sure the combinations needed to do that as it would depend upon type of allocations in each state. Also the state party allocations usually go as unpledged so who knows how they'd voted, party line I'd guess.

Summary .

1274 delegates remaining before LA votes today. 1191 needed to win.

McCain .. 699 delegates .. Needs 492 [38% of remaining available]

Here's the running scoreboard to date and future events.....

I am proud to say I finally got a chance to vote for a real conservative today. Duncan Hunter! Didn't count for a damn thing but it sure felt good. Hopefully in the future I'll get another chance to do the same again. You know, like voting for Bobby Jindal for POtUS. Y'all give that some thought and see how it feels and maybe real soon you can be proud of your vote again.
