We also need to understand that we are responsible for this together, not just one wing or faction of the GOP. I cast my support for Tom Tancredo last year because I believed he had the best ideas. When I made my choice public, I was rebuked with words like: "He's not as electable as Guiliani or McCain." Well, now we have someone who is "electable" and he is not to our liking? Why?
I'm sure that if asked questions like "Did you donate money to your candidate?" or "Did you do volunteer work for your candidate?" or "Did you try to get your candidate's message out to the public?" most of us would respond "yes," even if we only forwarded one mass email from our candidate in late December.
And since most of us would answer "yes" we need to ask, would it make sense to start doing things to help the Dem candidate get elected in November?
John Hawkins makes some good points in his column.
Flame me if you like, but it won't change the current state of things.
Sorry, No vote for John “Traitor to the Conservative Cause” McAmnesty!
Truer words never spoken. Nor wiser.
Time for all Freepers to rally around McCain and go on to victory in November.
No, 84rules, you are right on. We cannot allow the Hildebeast or Osama Obama to take the presidency. We must take back the Senate and the House as well. I was for Duncan Hunter and Tom was my second choice BTW.
He doesn't need me.
There is also nothing Conservative or principled about helping him win either.
Everyone needs to remember that the House and Senate have become even more important now.
Oh, and by the way, quit using the tactics of the Left to describe disagreement on principles as Hate.
Nothing like the anger and hate being directed at conservatives who don’t support McCain.
There's nothing Conservative about helping the GOP transition over to the Left.
Basically....I agree with this. I don’t much care for McCain, but I would not want to see Obama and surely not Hillary in the Presidents office. When McCain is President, control Congress. Get the right people in Congress and you have a winning situation for this country, and my concern is for this country..........not for someone that wants to be Queen of the US. Hillary must be pushed back into the closet.
A crazy RINO, Satan and a sweet talking Commie.
I would pick the crazy RINO.
It’s a simple question of the lesser evil.
The alternative is unthinkable......
Go McCain!!
Militant
and what if mCCain moves back to the right, loses a lot of his leftie and indy suppport, a lot of conservatives do suck it up and vote for him, and he still loses.
what then?
who will we fight then, amongst ourselves like the 20006 aftermath, or the winner, be it either hil or obama?
nothing personal Marine, but have so many lost the ability to realize we face a multi-faced or should I say two faced offering here.. and that any way we cut it, we will be fighting whoever wins, the question , is who? and who will have already shown their resolve to roll over just for the sake of “winning”.
McCain will also do those things. All of them. If he becomes Prez
Sorry, not playing the “Lessor of Two Evils” game anymore.
Learned my lesson with Arnold.
And everyone can clearly see the result of that mistake.
“There’s Nothing Conservative Or Principled About Helping A Democrat In November”
That is clearly a true statement.
The question of whether it is conservative or principled to help John McCain is a more nuanced issue.
Spoken like a true Democrat.
Nominating John McCain is supporting the Democrat candidate for President. You made your bed, GOP. You can sleep in it.
Many voters’ WHOLE loaf is illegal immigration. He can’t get the border shut no matter what he says with a Dem majority, so they’d rather a Dem president take that heat.
