SPRINGDALE - The medical community is warning the public: a leprosy outbreak in Springdale could blossom into an epidemic, if something isn't done soon.
Doctors say at least nine cases of leprosy have been confirmed in Springdale. Local doctors say they would be shocked by even one case of leprosy in their entire career...

Thanks, snoringbear, I’ll keep that in mind the next time I decide to snuggle up with an armadillo. lol
No kidding!
Springdale is the location of the headquarters of Tyson Foods Inc., the largest meat producing company in the world, and has been dubbed the "Chicken Capital of the World" by several publications. Residents of the surrounding areas refer to the city as "Chickendale" - a name that was once shunned by Springdale residents.
I got my info from people who work in the Washington County Health Unit. Any time you want get the conversation heated up you just mention the Marshallese. Off of duty hours of course.
I definitely agree.
Effects of illegal immigration, Ping.
Q: How do you know you got a Valentine from a leper?
A: The tongue is still on the envelope.
Q: Did you hear about the three lepers playing poker?
A: One threw his hand in, another laughed his head off, and the third cried his eyes out.
Q: Why did the leper leave the party early?
A: Others started to use the back of his head for chip dip.
Man!! That’s the last time I snuggle with an armadillo! Can’t trust ANYTHING these days.
Father Damien died...of leprosy

I posted that new information but the moderators removed it as not linked.
Anyway, the current link at the top of this post—which was on Drudge earlier—is now busted.

The first story was evidently withdrawn at the urging of Arkansas state medical authorities.
The source was yanked. This shows the perils of excerpting. I usually post the maximum allowed if excerpting is required. I can’t find a cached link with Yahoo or Google.
Yes. Obviously the Arkansas politicians decided it would be a very bad idea to have a leprosy scare, so they told the station that the doctors who first broke it were wrong, and leprosy is not dangerous to anybody.
Probably some of the same health authorities who were around when bill clinton organized the Arkansas prison blood scam, which killed a number of Canadians with AIDS tainted blood transfusions—for profit.
I believe they were flown in by Tyson's foods. This part of Arkansas has more citizens of the Marshall Islands than any place in the world outside of the Marshalls.
Other groups are at risk of catching it under specific conditions.
That's why I'm surprised it's in NW Arkansas anywhere other than the large Vietnamese population settled there.
I’m not surprised. *sigh*
Probably nothing. Bit if he’s elected his policies will bring us far more cases of disease and plague and leprosy. Thank again, Senator McCain.
