Bradley Smith, former commissioner of the Federal Election Commission and the leading legal scholar on campaign finance issues, experienced the McCain treatment firsthand. Because Smith opposed limits on political speech, he was denounced as "corrupt" by the senator... The two did accidentally meet outside a hearing room in 2004 when they were both scheduled to testify before the Senate rules committee. At first, McCain grasped Smith's outstretched hand (Smith was in a wheelchair, recovering from surgery), but when he recognized his campaign finance opponent, he snatched his hand back, snarling, "I'm not going to shake your hand. You're a bully. You have no regard for the Constitution. You're corrupt."

Okay, I'll start with his 83 percent lifetime ACU rating.
“Suicide voters believe in my way or no way.”....
“It’s the price of being right.”
AMEN. Right is Right. Stand.
Surely you jest.
Surely not. Look at his record.
I will not fade away... but I will not rollover & "fall in line" for a "take it or leave it" rigged deal.
Candidates earn my vote... they don't demand it!
Why don't you start with the Keating 5? McCain-Feingold which violates the First Amendment? McCain-Kennedy (and all of the sequels) that would grant amnesty to bazillions of illegals here who refuse to assimilate? The Gang of 14 that would disqualify some of the best conservative judges nominated to the Supreme Court? McCain-Lieberman? McCain calling the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth dishonorable and liars?
If he is your man, so be it. But for McCain to call himself a conservative is like Adolf Hitler saying he admires and respects Jews!
That is an abridgment of the freedom of speech. McCain has succeeded not in getting the money out of politics, but in ensuring that you and I can’t express our views. But the newspapers and MSM are free to criticize conservatives and anyone they please right up through the election and are free to call states in favor or their nominee before the voting has ended....all legally.
I have this, it is epidemic but I haven’t heard of any cure at this time.
Electile Dysfunction
The inability to become aroused over any of the choices for President put forth by either party during an election year.
IF the Republican Party had thrown conservatives even ONE bone on Republican distinctives like balancing (let alone cutting) the federal budget, curbing the IRS and the BATFE, limiting the scope of federal government, and preserving individual liberties, you might have an argument. As it was, Republicans had the Presidency and both houses of congress for the better part of eight years, and have nothing substantial to show for it.
So if we've helped the Republicans to get on top and got screwed for our pains, exactly why should we knock ourselves out to try to help Republicans stay on top?
>>>For that matter, talk radio squelches free speech on a daily basis with screeners and the hosts ability to unplug the caller and yet continue as if the caller was able to respond.<<<
Huh? Talk Radio is not “THE CONGRESS”! The First Amendment begins, “The Congress shall pass no law...”.
Therefore, the McCain-Feingold Incumbent Protection Act (e.g., CFR) is a clear violation of the 1st Amendment of the Constitution of the United States. Talk-Radio call-screening is an exercise in the natural right (protected by the 9th Amendment) to avoid loud-mouth, beligerent, anti-constituion marxists.
I cannot believe you have been a Freeper since 1997 and are so ignorant of the Constitution. You can get a free pocket Constitution from the Heritage Foundation. They will even pay the shipping.
Make that 16 years.
100 - 83 = 17.
That's included in the 17 percent.
No you can’t enjoy free speech if you want to talk about candidates. Go read McCain-Feingold again.
>>>I’ll start with his 83 percent lifetime ACU rating.<<<
I believe it is in the 60’s for the past year. Therefore, McCain is becoming more liberal, fast.
How about "suicidal political party"?
Oberon: “So if we’ve helped the Republicans to get on top and got screwed for our pains, exactly why should we knock ourselves out to try to help Republicans stay on top?”
I think you’re mistaking Republican for conservative. We didn’t have a conservative majority or even a conservative president. That’s not to say there aren’t any good conservative politicians out there. There are, and it’s up to us to increase their numbers.
Surely not. Look at his record.
Better yet, look at his record, Obama's record, and Hillary's record. Then get back to me.

We just need to find some “strawberries” for McCain to obsess over, then.
I had never heard the story about the guy in the wheelchair.
McCain really is a jerk, isn’t he?
We already have one. The Libertarian Party -- just see how many elected officials call themselves Libertarians. They're like a herd of cats.
Maybe it’s because people don’t like lying SOBs?
