Are there any Freepers who support John McCain?
If you support Mr. McCain, can you make the case for your man?
Can you make the case without bringing up the War?
Can you make the case without bringing up Judges?
Can you make the case without using any ACU ratings? (Those don't impress anybody.)
Can you make the case without insults or telling people to "calm down"?
Can you make the case without the type of lying and dishonesty we've come to expect from John McCain and his special friend Mike Huckabee?
Can you make the case without trashing Barack Obama?
Can you make the case without using Hillary Rodham Clinton as some kind of boogyman or boogyperson?
Can you?

A McCain presidency has more potential for harm than does a true Democrat victory.
At least we can openly oppose the Dems, yet with McCain you’ll be coerced into support his policies, the same policies that you’d oppose if Hillary championed them.
Just as now, you’re succumbing to the pressure and putting party over principle.

If that's too high a price to pay today for the return of conservatism, when will a better price be available? I believe McCain would do all he could to ensure the answer is "never".

He is strong on Pro-Life issues. He believes Roe-vs-wade should be repealed and that states should handle the issue themselves.
Didn't he try to silence a pro-life group via McCain-Feingold?
We are also likely to get judges like Roberts and Alito from McCain which is another plus.
Were it not for G14, a lot more judgeships would have gotten filled with conservatives. Instead, many are still vacant.
In his cartoon, in post #474 I thought he was advocating killing the Republic party (the hole in the elephant's head I thought was a bullet hole) and voting for Hillary. I misunderstood his intent. My remarks in #476 was with that frame of mind.
I see people that claim the will vote Hillary, but they claim to be conservative, I personally cant make sense of that. Even with that, I should not have spoke to him in that tone, cartoonistx, like you is a good guy, a good FReeper, and a Patriot.
If you and I end up voting differently on this issue, I understand we are both doing what be believe is right for this Country and wanting conservatism to inspire this nation again.
I'm not staying home. I am going to vote for the down-ticket races and possibly for a third-party Presidential candidate. I'm just not going to vote for McCain. So how does that give Democrats a filibuster-proof Congress?

I am with you. Must vote against Hillary or Obama, so will hold my nose and vote for McCain.

I would be lying if I said it’s easy to choose between a couple of $h!+ sandwiches like Hillary and McCain.
I don’t agree with Obama on 80-90% of the issues, but at least he seems to be honest man with a normal family.
If McCain and company really want to win this election, smearing their opponents, lying and fear tactics are not going to cut it.

I have to agree with you that hoping that dems will screw this country up so badly in 4 to 8 years so the country will be begging for true conservatism is a naive argument. The ramifications of a Hillobama presidency really give me the chills.
What could they do to this country in that short period is not something of which I am willing to experiment. I have my children to think about.
I have resigned myself to the fact that I will be going to the polls in November, clothespin securely fixed on my nose, and will color in the circle for that old, cranky, rat-ba$tard that hates me because the alternative terrifies me too much. I wish it weren’t so.

Here’s my complaint:
McCain has proffered liberal ideas to satisfy his personal agenda, while masquerading as a Republican.
He did not, and does not, support the President.
He will not get my vote. I’d rather vote for Hillary than McCain. The future of this country will not be enhanced by either. HIllary’s term will more than likely turn America agaisnt her, versus McCain waffling over every decision.
McCVain could possibly last 8 years, and Hillary can’t.

They already have about half the people in the Dem controlled inner-cities belonging to gangs and/or committing crimes.
Putting aside the loss of all the good R candidates, we have no choice. Its either McNasty/McNuts or we just “give” the Presidency to ObamamLama or the Hildabeast.
McNasty at-least offers “some” hope. With either of the two Dems there is no hope at all. By the time the Dems finished their four years we’d have liberal judges having been appointed to the Supreme Court and we’d have problems as long as they were there since they can’t be voted-out.
I’m just as unhappy as all of you are. “My guy” was Duncan Hunter, unfortunately he’s long since dropped out. After him I was wishing for Fred Thompson -unfortunately he dropped-out too, then when it got down to McCain, Huckabee, and Romney, I was hoping for Romney...My LAST choice all along was McCain. I don’t have any respect, AT ALL, for him, HOWEVER he’s what we’re stuck with.
That leaves each of us these choices to make: Do we “bite-the-bullet” and vote for him, do we vote for everyone BUT President, or do we vote third-party, wasting our votes on a condidate that has NO CHANCE of winning, or lastly, do we “stay-home”?
Third party doesn’t help us - - Staying home doesn’t help us, voting, but NOT for President doesn’t help us. - - Likely, if we stay home, vote for all but President, or vote third party we’ve given the Presidency to the Dems.
If anyone thinks that the Dems won’t screw-up the country they’ve got another think coming.
They’ll be government waste on a scale that pales with what we have now, there’ll be National-Health-Care, there’ll be liberal policies enacted that’ll “knock your eyes out”, including the expansion of welfare (laziness) programs, amnesty for illegal aliens etc etc.
By the time their four years are up they will have done so much damage and enacted so many Liberal policies that it’ll take YEARS to straighten-it-out, and some of them might never be able to be straightened out/eliminated.
I’m ALREADY HOLDING MY NOSE, and have been since Mitt dropped out, B U T, I refuse to give MY vote to the Dems, in any way, including NOT voting for, AT LEAST “someone” who MAYBE-MIGHT-HOPEFULLY BE “SOMEWHAT” LESS LIBERAL THAN THE DEMS WOULD SURELY BE.
(This post is not meant to be specifically to YOU, rather it’s a call for keeping cool-headed regarding the lousy pick we have, and the hope that those who ignore our candidate realize that the stakes are too high to abandon the Party and allow the Dems to sit in the Oval Office.)
Finally found a valid reply to the McCain debate. A person who said he would not vote for him announced “I am a Conservative NOT a Republican”. So no obligation to vote for a Republican!
Logical but still cutting off your nose to spite your face instead of holding that nose shut tight and voting for whomever the Republican nominee is.
Every vote not thus cast is a DOUBLE vote for the DimRats. It takes two to balance out a Dem vote if you do not vote to counter it.
I am not voting for McCain. Period.
