As six Republican senators devised a plan to yank $2.3 million in federal funding for Berkeley programs, the mayor of the famously liberal city apologized Wednesday for his hard stance against a Marine recruiting center.

The Weasel.
Commies, rotten, stinking commies.
The petition
We, the undersigned condemn the Berkeley City Councils treasonous attack on US Marine Recruiters stationed in their city. We ask that Congress cut off funds from any and all municipal entity within the confines of the city of Berkeley, California, until such time as the city council withdraws its action.
The City Council has voted to tell the Marines their downtown recruiting station is not welcome and if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome guests.
The measure passed last week by a vote of 8-1.
The council also voted to explore enforcing a city anti-discrimination law, focusing on the militarys dont ask, dont tell policy.
In a separate item, the council voted, also 8-1, to give the Marxist protest group Code Pink a parking space in front of the recruiting office once a week for six months and a free sound permit for protesting once a week.

That’s just beautiful.
“Subtly stated in the resolution is perhaps an impugning of the soldiers fighting for us in Iraq and other places,” Berkeley City Councilman Laurie Capitelli. “And that was never the intention but that really needs to be cleared up. As I walked to my car that night I realized I regretted it and I had made a mistake.”
Subtly stated? This is too funny.
What statement did he make?
Nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
I agree.
I don’t care about an apology! He/They don’t mean it. They’ve made their position very clear. And what about the University? Solomom Act time!
Patients. After we elect John McCain, he’ll nuke ‘em!
It's amazing what passes for "subtly stated":
The letter said that the recruiting center was not welcome on Shattuck Avenue and that the Marines were uninvited and unwelcome intruders.
What about the Code Pinkos? Is he going to revoke their parking privilege?
These yobs have no committment. Press on, yobs! Show us how commited you are to your cause, and are not swayed by the prospect of losing money.
They are folding like a cheap lawn chair. We can’t ever let cowardly cretins like these in positions of real authority.
No such thing as a latrine in the Corps. Head, cathole, slit trench, yes. Latrine, no.
It was one about agreeing with Code Pink and that the Marines “didn’t belong” in Berkeley.
Here’s my proposal to the City of Berkeley to make up the lost Fed dollars: Moonbat tax.
Think about it...
And McCain’s only comment against this slap to our military...
“I think Berkeley is Berkeley, a unique place in America.”
Many thanks to those Senators who did take action to show their support of our military personnel.
Oh, that was good.
Love it! Thanks for posting it.
