On the Spot (CNSNews.com) - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said the possibility of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) becoming president "sends a cold chill down my spine."
Reid made his remarks Tuesday outside the Senate chambers when a reporter asked him about McCain, who is running for the Republican Party nomination for president.
Pulling out his wallet and removing a white piece of paper, Reid told the reporter: "All I have to say about that is this. I have it right here, and you can put it in your little recording devices."
Then, reading aloud, and quoting Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) from an interview last Friday, Reid said: "The thought of him [McCain] being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper, and he worries me."

I am far more concerned about the domestic situation than I am about what happens in Iraq. As a country, we can be destroyed in numerous ways: McCain supports the BS that is MORE of a threat to our country than Al Quaeda is.
Thad is from my hometown, and I’ve always liked and admired him. My daddy knew him and liked/respected him as well. I would consider him to be more moderate than Trent Lott. He votes similarly to John Warner.
I am perplexed as to who is voting for McCain. I don’t know any McCain supporters. Or if I do, they’re not telling. I know a lot of Obama supporters. And I know a lot of anti-Hillary folks. (they tend to vote Obama because there is no other option.) Who is voting for McCain????????????
It's more than a desire. It's acceptance of the fact that Republican principles have been compromised to the point that electing one of our own will damage the party decades into the future and perhaps destroy it. Sometimes you must throw one of your own overboard, cut out the cancer, so to speak.
He will be more dangerous to the Republican party than Hillary or Obama. At least with those two, you take away the liberal claim that we really aren't a democracy and the GOP can still be an opposition party.
With McCain, we will have one of our own working against us. He will compromise on judges. There is no doubt. He will compromise our sovereignty. There is no doubt there, also. He keeps moving to the left to get elected.
How much further left will McCain go? Answer: as far as necessary to sit in the Oval Office.
I’m with you. No one on FR has been more critical of McCain than I. However, the thought of either a return of Ahab and Jezabel or the Crypto Muslim as POTUS and a Dem majority in Congress has forced me to reconsider my opposition to McCain.

John McCain is too flawed to survive in a General election against ANY Democrat.
I don't have a position here.
All I am doing is recounting what had been predicted a priori.
Everyone with an IQ greater than a walnut knew that the MSM would build up McCain because they wanted the most liberal possible candidate to come out of the GOP side of things.
So that, with McCain -vs- either Hillary or Obama, they would be guaranteed that a liberal would win in November.
But with McCain, they got a 2-fer: Not only was McCain the most liberal candidate in the GOP race, but, at age 71 [going on 72], and with a highly unstable personality, they knew that McCain would be the easiest GOP candidate to destroy.
So now that McCain has wrapped up the nomination, all of his old "friends" in the MSM will be turning their guns on him, to destroy him - Reid's shot is simply the opening volley.
And all of this is unfolding exactly as everyone predicted that it would unfold.
PS: Is there anyone - ANYONE? - who wants to argue that what Cochran said is FALSE?
“That depends on the opposition assuming the president isn’t short-fused, vindictive, and maybe vain/nuts enough to do the unthinkable”.
The only people McCain has ever shown any vindictiveness towards are conservatives in his own party. He’s too busy being at war with us to win the war on terror.
