Nothing to apologize for. I can see you have important news and the indifference is frustrating.

California’s Republican Party will undoubtedly get right on this. You can expect to have an answer to what took place around a year from now.

Then why Haven't Democrats reported a similar problem? I know they would still be allowed to vote since their primary was open and it would not have affected them, but poll workers have stated that no one claiming to be Democrat turned up on the polls as a "Non-partisan".

California Dems let independents vote in their primary, unlike the Republicans. No one registered Independent denied the ability to vote for the Dems=no outcry.

I have been saying this for years and that is why those people who want Hillary to win, because they thinks she’s easier to beat than Obama, are deluding themselves...

The Clinton machine has spent years setting up the fraud that will give he the win in November - millions of illegals voting, all kinds of phony registrations, mail-in ballots, same day registrations...

Our democracy is being stolen and there seems to be nothing we can do, outside of revolt, to stop it.. Democrats and republicans all over the country cheating and passing legislation to make it easier to cheat..

It's not just So. Cal. It happened to me, in the East bay (SF Bay area), and I've been registered as a Republican since the days of Ronaldus Maximus. Last night Brian Sussman, KSFO out of SF, said his lines were jammed with callers reporting the same problem.

This is how Democrats win elections, and get the likes of McCain nominated as Republicans. Massive voter fraud is the order of the day.

We are so screwed.

They did the same thing in the Inland Empire which favors Republicans. San Bernardino County which is the largest in the state.

As a registered Republican, in Nov., 2004, I went to my usual place to vote in NJ...the firehouse about two miles away. They said I must have been at the wrong place. I wasn’t in their books.

I told them I’ve been voting there for the past 20 years!

They sent me to the County Clerk...about five or six miles from there.

The clerk said to go back ...that I was correct, but now I would have to vote by provisional ballot....a paper ballot.

At the firehouse, the poll worker set up a cardboard screen on a table for my privacy.

I placed my X next to George W. then folded the ballot. On the outside, it said, “If this is a primary election, you must indicate if you are voting Republican or Democrat.”

I left it blank and handed to the poll worker. In a loud, rude voice she said I would have to mark how I was voting on the outside of the ballot.

I explained to her that since it was a general election, I should NOT mark it.

She said, “THIS IS A PRIMARY ELECTION!”

We went round and round about four times. She kept insisting it was a primary. I kept telling her it was a general election!

She told me she was in charge there and that she’ll rip it up if I didn’t mark the outside. Reluctantly I did, but went home and called the State Board of Elections. The lady I talked with was appalled.

She said, “We train them, we pay them, and this happens?”

Then she confirmed what I had assumed...my vote didn’t count.

I'll pick the most likely culprit; computer error, compounded by a sufficient level of testing to see what did go wrong, what could go wrong, and how the locals could handle it. There's a reason why the old saying goes, "Most testing takes place in the first week of production."

Still, if local judges were just blowing people off unless the intended voter insisted on a provisional ballot, the judges were either poorly trained, incompetent, or in on it.

I emailed your post to an aquaintance in So Cal. She wrote this back to me:

In fact, I heard on "talk radio" that if you are Independent you could not vote Republican...stupid me, I believed that to be true. A friend of mine, also a Registered Republican went to vote, they did not have her listed and handed her a ballot (of course, no Republicans on this one) and when asked for a Rep. ballot they had a hard time finding one.

The first step is admitting you’re in politics......

shhhhh....I'm still in denial.

Isn’t there something like “poll watchers” that can legally be present to watch the proceedings and report anything that looks illegal or outright outrageous such as the lady threatening to rip up your ballot if you didn’t declare who you voted for?

What happened to the secret ballot?

Oh and LOL at the cardboard. Kinky

The rules weren't changed. Some people were told that even though they "knew" they were registered rep, that they were indeed non-partisan. The proper thing for the poll worker is to inform that, that if they thought there was a mistake, they could provisionally vote as a rep until the registrar's office could see if there was an error. Instead, some workers did not do that. In out place, it took me about an hour to convince the supervisor to do it that way.

I don't think the SD registrar';s office is controlled by rep or dems for that matter. That's why I asked people earlier how this deed was done in concert and whether it would give McCain and advantage. Then people argued that it was the dems trying to sway rep to come over.

I live in San Diego and a reg. Republican.
Some of the folks who were turned away perhaps didn’t get the memo that has been known, NPs don’t vote in party primaries.

Those who wanted to vote should have taken a few seconds and re registered to a party to vote in the primary.

If the dems had the problem, it probably would not cause an uproar. The Non-partisans could select an AIP or dem ballot because those parties were open to "independents."

For the record, I don't recall any dem in our precinct complaining. While we had 15-20 repubs with problems.
