You may have noticed a number of stories recently about undersea cables getting cut around the world. Apparently the total is now up to 5, but the scariest part of this is that Iran is now offline. You can also read Schneier's comments on this coincidence.
Ok, you win. I won’t insult you like you did me.
>> Iran doesnt have the capability to do this. This is being done on the ocean floor at a depth of 200 feet, without anyone seeing who is doing it. <<
They don’t have the capacity to dive 200 feet???
BTW,I do work with NUWC with test and developement of underwater systems, how about you?
Sh! Skippy, no-one’s supposed to know we’re invading Canada.
I told you nicely, twice to stop posting to me ass. Go to hell
This ain’t scuba diving. It’s pitch black, nitrogen narcosis is a great possibility beyond 130ft.They can dive(helmeted dive),but can’t pull this type of stunt off without detection.
I think you’ve got the correct outlook on this.
Well, actually it’s well in the SCUBA range. The record is 1027 feet. 200 feet is a lot closer to 130 feet than it is to 1027 feet. What makes you think that even a helmeted dive would be so easily detected? (Serious inquiry) Do we have monitors or patrol boats along even these cables?
"I think we need a bigger boat."

She’s reading flatline there in Tehran!
That was my first thought... if at first you don't succeed, try, try, again...
Hope that makes sense.
The Internet provides the general population with almost instantaneous information about what is occurring in the world. The Iranian governement may not want it’s people to have that capability if it is planning military action.
Interesting to say the least...
I will post to you one last time, just to calm you down.I’m just a guy on the internet.Don’t take it personal and certainly don’t let me ruin your day.We had over 46 deaths last night in the south due to tornados. Our posting opinions means nothing compared to that.Have a good day.
>> Because they would have to “dive” from a surface vessel or a specialy equipped sub,in multiple locations,at multiple times, in the Gulf. It’s not the diver so much as it is the delivery of the diver. We have ships and subs patrolling those waters, if you remember the Iranian speedboat “incident”.The only thing we can’t control is the Iranian waters. As in,they can do what they want over there, but it doesn’t mean it isn’t detected. <<
I’m a little confused. Speedboats charging our vessels hardly demonstrates that we see (and log) every boat large enough to carry a diver, so what does that have to do with anything? Are you saying that we can detect every fishing boat in the entire Middle East? Or do we have a special program in place to monitor the several thousand miles of underwater cable in and around the Middle East?
Murmansk and a whole lot of other Soviet ports. It sometimes produced some really high quality intel too.
They're not really designed for it, but we have a Seawolf class sub designed to tap underwater cables.
I would say that the area is well covered.Without getting too specific.Too well covered for this happen so many times undetected, by Iran of all countries.
Good map.
Thanks.
