The National Geographic Channel (NGC) will begin airing on February 10 a new environmental show titled Six Degrees. NGC in a statement on the man who inspired the show says, "In possibly the most graphic treatment of global warming yet published, noted science writer and 2006 National Geographic Emerging Explorer Mark Lynas explains in his latest book, Six Degrees: Our Future on a Hotter Planet, how Earths climate will be impacted with every degree of increase in temperatureand what we need to do about it, now, to avert disaster." If Katrina bothered you not just because of the environmental issues but also the failed government response, then Six Degrees is a show you should watch.

But, you see, they WANT a disaster.
NOBODY in the enviro movement is acknowledging the 15-27% IMPROVEMENT in plant growth and crop yield that we see NOW from higher CO2 levels. The movement wants the death and doom scenarios - and denies any benefit from the 1/2 - 2 degree temp increase that “might” come.

I recently cancelled long-standing subscriptions to the National Geographic, Smithsonian and New Yorker because they have become increasingly left wing in their orientations. It seems like everything I enjoyed so much in the past is succumbing to liberal fascism.

Somebody should ask the idjit how many people would be left living on the planet if we had six degrees of COOLING.
Hundreds of millions of acres of cropland frozen solid 9-10 months a year.
BILLIONS of people dead of starvation, and those who are left would be quite familiar with the taste of human body parts...

Katrina didn't bother me but the condition of the levees did and that was the fault of New Orleans. And the only govt. response, or lack of, that pissed me off was again from New Orleans....
So I guess Six Degrees is not a show I should watch......

Like most AGW campaigners, looks like none of his "6 degrees" are in science. Since when does a "degree in history and politics" become expertise in climatology?
Another windbag blowing hot air.

Global warming might have saved Buddy Holly's life.
If Buddy had lived the Beatles might not have become such heroes.
If the Beatles had not become such heroes we might have had fewer "flower children" and the US might be in better shape.

Ha! We are way ahead of you here in California. Not only will our kids have to watch the movie, they will soon be
required to study GW "science" in the classroom. California State Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, introduced CA Senate Bill 908 to require GW science be taught in CA public schools. The bill cleared the Senate by a 26-13 vote last week and is now moving to the Assembly.
"California's students need to understand what's happening," Simitian said in a statement. "A rigorous program of science instruction has to be both current and relevant, and that certainly has to include climate change."

I saw the commercial for this piece of garbage and immediately put a parental block on NGC. I don’t want my children exposed to this anti-intellectual, lefist, alarmist Bravo Sierra.

Well said! Farmers talk about record yields from the increased season and the increased CO2, and they want to wreck that?

NG had a show on about prisons last night. My wife was watching it, but I could hear it from my office. They were stating that we have more people in prison than ever, but we are no safer. In fact, we are worse off. Absolutely ignoring stats on lower crime rates. Pure propaganda.

This just re-confirms my decision to tell National Geographic where to stick their magazine. I only wish someone from the magazine had called asking why I wasn’t renewing for 2008 so I could have REALLY told them what I thought of their “Glo-bull Warming” stance.
