A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 200,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay.

Ever stop to think about all the animals that frequent the Finest? There are bears and birds, dogs and kitties, foxes, owls, wolves...! And Elephants everywhere! (No donkeys need apply though!) :)

                    

Now the Finest isn't like just any zoo - our animals are very FRiendly - no fences or cages for them - in fact, this one may greet you at the door and insist upon a hug before you enter. (females only, of course.)

You may even find a bear in the kitchen cooking up some of her special brownies.

The Finest isn't all about animals and birds, of course - we have among us, to name just a few:

A few little critters didn't get used, so if you have these letters in your name, please feel free to take them. I used "Comic Sans Ms" font in a size "6" to spell the rest of the names. Now it came to pass, when the time had come for [Jesus] to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem.  —Luke 9:51

Peripheral vision enables us to be aware of our surroundings while remaining focused on our destination. What we see from “the corner of our eye” can be useful, unless it distracts us from our goal.

During the weeks leading to Easter, as we think about the cross, we may be struck by our Lord’s purposeful approach to the city where He knew crucifixion and resurrection awaited Him. “Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem” (Luke 9:51). From that moment on, Jesus’ eyes were on the cross. Every obstacle to accomplishing His Father’s will became part of His peripheral vision.

When a man professed an interest in following Him, Jesus told him: “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God” (v.62). The issue was probably not the man’s family (v.61) but his focus.  We can’t move ahead while looking at what we’ve left behind.

Neither cries of “Hosanna” nor shouts of hatred could deter Jesus from His goal “to give His life a ransom for many” and to pay the price to set us free (Matt. 20:28).

70 degrees! Can’t wait for that temperature. 2 more months here, at least, before we see 70 degrees. I have a family member who lives in DC area. I always get jealous when she tells me you all have daffodils blooming.
