Erie County, New York:

We had a tornado just above our home last night, which thankfully, did not touch down. I had just gone to bed, and was about to get up and see what kind of giant motorized something or other was going down my street, when I realized what sounded like hail unlike anything I’ve ever heard before was pounding on our roof. The noise never got to the “approaching train” degree, but close to it.

The tornado lowered over a flat area behind the house, and then rose up higher and disappeared. It was confirmed on the weather station later, and they say we may have more. This has never been a tornado area before.

Prayers for those who have been hit.

Yes it is - prayers continue for that area and all this area in line of these storms!!!! They are bad enough in the daylight hours but over night is horrible. (I sat through what seemed like a Tornado when Hurricane Fran went directly over my house. That was in the middle of the night...it lasted almost all night. They said the winds were 80 MPH but then others said they “thought” a tornado may have spun out of it right in our area...all I know is that I slept in a downstairs bathroom - well didn’t sleep - all night praying!!! Our house was spared but thousands in our area were not.

It’s horrible to hear the trees thump thump crashing down. In the darkness.

Anyway - any tornado is horrible. So, major prayers will be said here (til I hear TN and other areas) are in the clear.

Wow, kitkat! That is amazing! Never been a tornado there before? Whew.

Need God’s protection all this night and into tomorrow - the storms will be in our area late tomorrow (central NC) though probably not as bad....still bad winds are bad winds.

It has gotten little coverage due to the primaries. I didn’t even know about the tornados until I heard Shrillary mention the people in Arkansas while giving a speech.

LOL - no had taken 2 small mattresses down there - they were in the narrow hall outside the bathroom for moments of “sleep”...ha. Then we went into the bathroom and I sat on the toilet and he sat on the floor. LOL.

Here was my prayer: Lord Jesus, Lord Jesus, help us, Lord Jesus.

And He did! (I prayed for all my family in the area too and for my neighbors....God was good. NONE of us (13 of us) had home damage and so many homes were just sliced through by the falling trees). WE did lose a major pine tree but it missed hitting the house. It looked like bombs had exploded all throughout our subdivision and city and in neighboring cities.

Approximately 10 years ago, a tornado went over our house. It didn’t touch down. It ended up touching down on the east side of the city. The sound was so interesting. It sounded like a very loud tea kettle boiling. I thought my dad was making tea. I realized later that it was the tornado going over.

OH - thanks - well - was reminiscing about “my horrific experience” in bad windstorm (Hurricane Fran) not current storms.

Hate bad winds - esp at night - can’t see a thing. Just hear those winds.

Am praying for people in the paths of these storms - esp a friend in Nashville TN who just moved there last summer. She is alone in retirement complex....but has neighbors and is in the middle of two other cluster homes. And we talked about her going to an interior closet if bad winds hit.

Big area still in danger from these storms. Then they will die down - then will hit our area tomorrow late (central nc) but not as badly as in TN/KY/MS/AL right now.

LOL - well that works too. They say to get in the bathtub, and lay a twin sized mattress over you...the plumbing around that area of the house is strong and protects you. My mother had us all sit in the hallway! I guess the best place to be is a basement storm cellar.

Gonna be a long night. Russell County and Adair County, KY under a tornado warning till 11:30 CST. Looks like the same cell that hit Nashville. These storms are moving N.E.

The fire can be seen from 90mi away according to the Nashville news folks. It is a high pressure line from TX? that is slow to shut down.
