THERE IS A LEFT-WING conspiracy at loose in the world, dedicated to undoing conservative governance, only the people who see it aren't sure what it is. John McCain is in it, of course, in fact he is the cause of it, as making him president is the ultimate goal. He is blamed for running, (and perhaps, for breathing), but beyond him the face of the threat is less clear. In fact, the faces are those of other conservative stalwarts, who were their heroes and brethren until--until, say, just after the Florida primary, when McCain emerged as a serious threat. These include Mike Huckabee, the once well-thought of former Arkansas governor (and hero of the social conservative part of the movement), who unaccountably refuses to withdraw from the race on their orders; Tom Coburn and Sam Brownback, perhaps the most conservative members of the United States Senate; Jack Kemp, the supply-side Reagan enthusiast; Phil Gramm, the most conservative Republican to run in the 1996 contest; and Ted Olson, the hero of the Federalist Society, who argued and won the case of Bush vs. Gore. (They may also include the late President Reagan's widow, who, according to the Drudge Report, hearts John McCain.)

Are you kidding me? Have you looked at McCain for the last 8 years? Your desire to just be on the winning team is what’s irrational.
The only coherent point I was able to pick up was that the voters picked John McCain, so shut up and like it.

This article completely misses the substance of why people are concerned about McCain. I fear that McCain would make a bad president. He opposed the Bush tax cuts and supported legislation that would require a supermajority in congress and the senate to reduce taxes. McCain-Kennedy was terrible legilation that would destroy our country in the future. He favors huge government subsidies for illegal aliens. He favors taxes to combat global warming that would add at least $.50-$1.00 to a gallon of gas and also tax electricity, etc. McCain would not allow the interrogation of terrorists. McCain has shown himself to be corrupt(Keating 5). McCain attacks business and private enterprise. McCain as president would let Democrats like Ted Kennedy control the agenda. People who are aware and concerned about these things are now being told to shut up.

Not exactly. The Republican Party started out as a third party. The Progressive Party wound up influencing both the Republicans and the Democrats. Even the Socialists wound up influencing the New Deal.
If McCain takes the nomination, there will be absolutely no better time to go third party. That may guarantee th Dims a win, but it will give whiplash to the bigheads in the Republican Party that think they can dump the conservatives and pander to the muddled middle vote.

I’m voting for Romney today. I would rather he be the nominee. But I think its stupid and irresponsible to say that you won’t vote for McCain if he is the nominee.

What I would like to know is what is his ACU rating since 2000? I think McCain was a good conservative up until the South Carolina primary of 2000. Since then he has been on a mission to stick it to conservatives and George Bush. Perhaps a lot of these conservative stalwarts remember the John McCain of pre-2000. Since then has come all of his ridiculous positions such as McCain/Feingold.

It’s not about “conservative purity.” It’s about the future of our country.
If conservatives were polled and asked who they want as President none of those still running under the GOP ticket would make the top 10. This is another piece that misses the point. Conservatives want a conservative as President. What is so difficult to understand about that?
