THERE IS A LEFT-WING conspiracy at loose in the world, dedicated to undoing conservative governance, only the people who see it aren't sure what it is. John McCain is in it, of course, in fact he is the cause of it, as making him president is the ultimate goal. He is blamed for running, (and perhaps, for breathing), but beyond him the face of the threat is less clear. In fact, the faces are those of other conservative stalwarts, who were their heroes and brethren until--until, say, just after the Florida primary, when McCain emerged as a serious threat. These include Mike Huckabee, the once well-thought of former Arkansas governor (and hero of the social conservative part of the movement), who unaccountably refuses to withdraw from the race on their orders; Tom Coburn and Sam Brownback, perhaps the most conservative members of the United States Senate; Jack Kemp, the supply-side Reagan enthusiast; Phil Gramm, the most conservative Republican to run in the 1996 contest; and Ted Olson, the hero of the Federalist Society, who argued and won the case of Bush vs. Gore. (They may also include the late President Reagan's widow, who, according to the Drudge Report, hearts John McCain.)

I like your spirit as well, but I agree that the better way is to reorganize and remove those who cannot hold to the conservative agenda from the Republican Party. We simply state, "Here is our agenda. It is well thought out, it is based on excellent and inspirational ideas, it gets us back to what the Framers of this country desired. This agenda, if followed WILL attract voters. If you are not on board with this agenda and do not wish to implement this agenda, then YOU go find another party."

But I think its stupid and irresponsible to say that you won’t vote for McCain if he is the nominee.

Then I am assuming that you also believe that it was stupid and irresponsible for THE POSSIBLE NOMINEE to break ranks and decide to form his own third party in the Senate called the Gang of 14!

I made this same argument a week ago, when people here were railing against the "Republican establishment" for picking McCain, whereas it's the Republican voters who've swung for McCain and Romney and not voted for the more conservative candidates like Thompson and Hunter.

It's also called THE INDEPENDENTS AND DEMOCRAT-CROSSOVERS who voted for McCain, in no small part to the MSM taking McCain under their wing and making him seem like a god. I talked to a friend of mine over the weekend, a staunch conservative but not a political junkie. We were talking politics and we got into talking about the candidates. I said, "McCain is awful." and he looked at me VERY puzzled and said, "Really? Why do you think that." I then rattled off about 10 reasons why and he immediately said, "To tell you the truth, I was leaning TOWARD McCain, but not now."

I will say this one more time for anyone who is listening:

THE MSM IS STILL A VERY POWERFUL TOOL FOR THE DEMS!!!

The sad part is most sheeple would assume Hagel is a conservative because he has an “R” after his name.

I’m not so sure the RINOS will be unhappy if Hillary becomes POTUS. She would raise taxes, but taxes can be lowered again. Amnesty, which most of the Wall Street crowd wants, is irreversible.

McCain said that, if elected, he would have the governors of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas certify that the border is secure before amnesty. That’s supposed to make conservatives feel better? Think about who those governors are.

Looks to me like McCain thinks he does not need the conservative base.

Based on this thread, I propose the following. I believe that each state is different, but I would suggest that all those who want to move the Republican Party to the right, go out and join their local Republican Party. Get involved and then start to make a name for yourself. Soon, we could have many more conservatives at the grassroots of the Party. Then we can start influencing things at the State levels. Then the National levels. We need to start today. Take that energy that bound in frustration right now and redirect it.

BS! Not even CLOSE to the best outcome. Are you one of those who believe that it was better that we stayed away from the nuclear option because that would give the Dems the ability to do it too? They will do it anyway! If Hillary gets elected, just watch how fast the nuclear option is played. That is the difference with the Republican Party as currently made up and the Dem Party. We threaten but never follow through. They don't threaten, they just do and then ask for forgiveness afterward. Look at how they did not allow for recess appointments.

That’s what I am doing. I would also suggest that, in the precinct meetings following the primary elections, we submit conservative resolutions such as anti-amnesty. These resolutions, if adopted at the precinct, go to county, and if they pass there, they go higher.

Anyhow, proud to support whoever wins the nod. I know that many do not share my view - but I’ll take any of the three over the Marxists.

Knowing this—we Republicans will go to the polls in November—hold our nose and vote for Mccain.
Those listed in the article who are supporting McCain are doing so for one reason—they know this election needs a “centrist” a moderate who will appeal to the progressives. Mccain is a true centrist, but the reason McCain is the wrong candidate for us—he is a war hawk—and for that reason—he will not get anti war independents, anti war republicans, and the evangelical christians.

Romney would have a fighting chance—especially if Obama is the Democrat nominee. Romney’s CEO experience will draw voters from both parties—especially as we slide deeper into a recession (today’s economic news and stock market plunge are showing the slide). If we want to win the election in November we better hope Romney wins—otherwise, all is lost.
