Winter-weary Wisconsinites could rightly grouse about La Niña, or complain about devilish upper-level air patterns, as they prepare for yet another snowstorm, one predicted to pile another 10 inches on already snowbound areas.

No snow in the Houston, Texas forcast. In fact it should be in the 70’s. Brrr. You guys up north are gluttens for punishment. I hate it when it gets all the way down to the 40’s, my skin just hurts.
LOL! Shortly after my parents moved to MO several years ago, they had a snowstorm. Dad & youngest brother rushed out, all bundled for a Wisconsin-style winter, and started shoveling. They said all the neighbors were driving by, pointing and laughing. They found out that the prevailing attitude was: “The good Lord put it there, the good Lord can take it away!” And, by noon, it had all melted away.
Same here about Tuesday’s.
Tuesday is garbage day for us and we’re last on the route, so the recyclables sit out all day and get buried or soaked EVERY Tuesday. We’re always dragging those cans and containers through the slop.
Perfectly normal so far here in the SF Bay Area. We are at about 115% of normal rainfall for the season which is great news. HUGE snowpack in Sierra. Rained all last week, but cleared yesterday. High about 55, low about 35. More storms headed our way, too. Couldn’t be more normal.
Meanwhile, out here in southeast PA, it’s supposed to be 65 today, and 71 tomorrow...
What should I plan on in Rockford?
I have heard everything from 2 to 12 inches.
Where are you? I am in Winston-Salem, hoping for a chance to get out in a little while...
Geez, 40’s is almost shirt sleeve weather.
He, he. We're 30 miles South of Rockford in Rochelle and heard the same. But Accuweather shows the system going North, with us on its South end. And they predict rain from noon to around 4 p.m. with cloudy conditions after. So, who knows?
We're going to plan for the worst. The wife will arrive home (works in DeKalb) around five. We'll go vote, then to the store to stock up. She's off for the next few days so we won't have to deal with driving. Good luck!

I was thinking it's actually approaching beach weather :o)
We took a January trip to Florida a few years back and it was pretty cold and dreary (50's--of course it was below zero where we came from!) But the girls were determined to swim outside-it was Florida, after all.
The people whose condos surrounded the outdoor pool must have thought we were nuts--bunch of fish-belly white dopes in the pool while they were no doubt huddled inside with sweaters and blankets.
One thing for the harsh weather - it does make a person hardy.
It sure does; and appreciative.
No doubt some offended FReeper will chime in, but I think that those of us in the north have a greater appreciation for the nice weather than those who never have to deal with the bad.
I know in the summer, I wake up every day grateful that it's above 50.
Eight years ago I moved out of my trailer and into a new house with a huge driveway. The day before I moved in was December the first, and I was at a store pricing snow blowers. One day after I moved in we were hit with a huge snowstorm. That December set a record in my area, western Wisconsin, for snowfall totals.
Judging by the supersonic speeds which suv drivers pass me when the roads are snowy and icy, I would assume that most devoutly believe that suvs have great traction on ice. So when I see one in a ditch after a spinout, I have a little pleasure in their predicament. As long as they're not hurt, they might learn a valuable lesson.
At least it isn’t snowing here. There is no temperature either. It’s gone.
I remember that year. I moved away from Illinois to Arizona seven years later, never to return.
Now I’m in California, and you should see all that gorgeous snow! Of course, we keep it up on the mountains for skiing, until summer when we use it to water the grapes, almonds, strawberries and peaches!

Not much snow in Central New Jersey this year (we got two inches one day, followed by rain). Plenty of rain last Thursday, however.
