Principles used to mean something in this Country.
One of the reasons our Country is in the mess it's in, is because we've lost our way, and abandoned our principles.
What lessons do we teach our Children, our Families, our friends, and our peers, if we, so easily, abandon what's important, and what has made us this great Country, and what the Founders fought for.
Did they not teach us that principles are worth every human effort possible? Did they not set out before us a Document that, in great explication, perfects our Principles?
FRed Thompson called his campaign the "Common Sense" campaign. He used the words, common sense, frequently, and he took a common sense approach to his positions and principles. Common sense, as in the writings of Thomas Paine of the same name. (My mind conjurs an image of FRed, looking at the camera, cigar in mouth, and saying..."Common sense, America, ya' might want to think about that.", LOL)

These, again, are the times that try men's souls. Who, amongst us, will "stand it"?
If McCain, Romney, Huckabee, or Paul, truly represent YOUR principles; if you can stand in front of those that make you proud and say "that man represents what I believe, that man is a Patriot, that man is the man I want, above all others, to lead our Country", then by all means, vote for that man.
Otherwise, "stand it".

Regardless of who wins, you can work to rejuvenate the conservative movement, or you can bitch about it for four years. Think about it, if you have principles.

Principles you Know
“If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice”.
If Fred or another palatable Conservative is not on the ballot for the Primary, then I choose not to decide among what are bitter offerings. Indeed there is no choice among the candidates on both sides.
And before the “holier than thous” come in with their “sacred right to vote” meme (which actually means vote for my guy), stow it.
I have lost friends and family who fought for the sacred right, and that sacred right I hold so dear that I will not waste it on a vote for the hell of it.
There is a big difference between indifference or just forgetting to vote and making the conscience decision not to enter the booth and just vote because some one says I have to.
Not to say in the general that I won’t pull the lever for Romney, but I will do so reluctantly if it should come to pass.
As far as Huck or McCain in the General, I refuse to be an accomplice in the further destruction of my once great nation.
I haven’t thought as far as the general yet. Who knows what can happen between now and then.
For now, though, I’m a write in.

You and I will be tottering in to vote at age 80, and STILL be writing in FRed. :)
I’m 46 1/2 years away from 80, and I doubt that I, or this country (the way it is going) will still be around in 2054. :-\

Well, I hope for your kids’ sake, they have a country to inherit.
I was happy to find that Fred was on my absentee ballot when it came on Thursday. Otherwise I would have had to write him in. In know in Washington I’m no better than Don Quixote, tilting at windmills. But someone has to. (And my husband voted for Fred too!)
ME TOO! MY Heart is still broken because our Country has lost the opportunity to have a great President. I will be at the Norton, Kansas caucus on February 9th. I will still caucus for FRED. That is my stand. I refuse to back McCain until there is absolutely no choice but him and Hillary. I think everyone is jumping the gun, however, and maybe tomorrow will surprise the critics?
