One robbery suspect is on the loose and another is in the hospital after four victims fought back.
Police say the four victims were barbecuing when two men with guns entered the home. One of the victims said he made a near-fatal mistake by leaving the garage door partially open. The victims, who do not want to be identified for safety reasons, say they ended up fighting for their lives and thought they might die.
"The look in their eyes, especially when they started beating us in the back of the heads with the guns. It was kind of like someone would torture a little animal and then joking about how they were going to love killing us," said one victim.
The men were pinned to the floor with shotguns. "It got ugly when they went back downstairs and decided to tell the women to undress their clothes," the victim added, "The girls were really crying and you could just tell that they were incredibly upset."
The victim told Eyewitness News that one of the suspects who was preparing to sexually assault the women turned his attention away from the guns and let down his guard.
The two male victims saw their opportunity.
"I grabbed him, threw him down on the ground, grabbed a weight from the weight set and smashed him in the head."
The women also joined in the fight, hitting the suspects with a frying pan.
"One of the girls completely nude managed to grab a gun and shoot the guy in the chest area and in the leg."
"She did what she had to do and I have to be thankful that she was able to do what she did and if she didn't I might not be able to give you this story right now."
The suspect who was shot has serious injuries and is in the hospital. The second suspect is on the run and as for the victims, they have minor injuries.
The police are very cautious not to make this seem like a heroic act. They say fighting back can sometimes end with the victims being more seriously hurt.

Metro police said two men broke into a Las Vegas home Thursday at about 9 p.m. and attempted to rape a woman inside, but the four people inside the home fought back, police said.
Police said one of the men who tried to break into the home, located on the 2100 block of Casa Ladera Road, was shot in the back and was taken to the hospital. The second person was able to get away, police said.
Fox 5’s Matt Johnson reported that police are still trying to figure out why the men chose the house. Four people, two men and two women, were inside the home, and the garage door was open, they said.
Police said the victims were forced to the ground by two black men who were armed with shotguns.
When the four victims were on the ground, police said one of the armed men attempted to rape one of the women, but the victims fought back at that point.
“A fight ensued, and one of the weapons were dropped, and one of the victims picked up the weapon and fired a shot,” Metro Lt. Christopher Hoy said.
The shot hit one of the intruders in the back, and police said he was found in the driveway in his underwear.
Police said the second intruder had part of his ear bitten off.
“Two men, heavily armed, came into the house as (the four people) were enjoying an evening barbecue (and) forced them to the ground at gunpoint,” Hoy said. “A fight ensued, and one of the weapons were dropped, and one of the victims picked up the weapon and fired a shot.”
The man who fired the shotgun lives near the home in which the intruders entered, but he said he did not want his face shown because he is now worried for his family’s safety.
“You have to be on guard even more now — you’re already on guard, especially when you have a family, but you hear something like this — it’s even more devastating,” the man said.
Lily Flores moved across the street from where the shots were fired a month ago. She said she moved because in her previous home, a man broke into her house, robbed her and held her hostage.

Don’t assume...watch the News TV tape. One of the guys is white, at least his hand is.
I live in North Florida in a conservative cracker county. I know exactly what you mean about north NV vs south NV. South Florida is another planet from our POV.
Knives at various locations are also a wise investment. You can get stiff bladed razor sharp serrated steak knife sets for not much money, and put them in various spots where they are hidden but easy to reach. This way you have a deadly defensive weapon at reach almost anyplace the home invaders might take you. The moment they are distracted, you have a deadly knife in hand. Naturally, firearms as well, but for the price of a few boxes of bullets you can have a dozen great knives placed here and there, out of sight but in easy reach.
So I bet the hospital staff are treating this thug with the care and compassion they give every patent. I hope they get the name of his partner out of him, then do their best to make him suffer.
As far as the cops go, catching these guys costs them time that could be spent collecting revenue. They will take cases like this to hit the public up for more funding, and then spend the funding on radars and tasers.
