McCainimosity
McCain is weak on borders, in that he changed and slurred his criticsbut his present position is light years from the de facto open bordersand proud of it attitudeshared by Clintama.
I still think if McCain goes on Hannity, Rush, etc., talks bluntly, but graciously and reviews his positions on the war, spending, corruption, and vows on illegal immigration, he can mollify his basein light of the alternative seen tonight. See below:
Im still being bombarded by those who promise that they will sit out if McCain is nominated. But any simple collation of his views with the Clintama positions will show an abyss of difference. I cant believe that conservatives will stay home while someone with a 82 percent ACU rating may run against the Senates most highly rated liberal senator. If either Hillary or Obama is elected, conservatives could kiss the Supreme Court off for 30 years, and see the Petraeus surge squandered. For those who keep writing the McCain venom, at least turn some of it on St. Reagan (new taxes on payroll and gas, arms for hostages, flight from Lebanon, OConnor and Kennedy as justices, 1986 amnesty, desire for global and rapid nuclear disarmament, etc.) or President Bush (massive growth in government, spending hikes, immigration bill, Dubai ports, farm bill give-away, etc.).
The debate has become so crazy that today they were attacking McCains war record! And complaining about his class ranking at Annapolis! Id cool it, since we are really talking about a return of Bill Clinton and more Justice Ginsburgs, Madeline Albrights, a few cruise missiles when our embassies are incinerated, tax increases from payroll to income to estate, more reductions in military forces (peace dividend), and a near veto by Europe and the UN on U.S. options abroad. A McCain-Thompson ticket....

Which position? McCain's tough sounding fake Conservative campaign rhetoric or his actual voting record on any of those issues?
The US loses part of its national awareness of what the Republican Party has traditionally brought to the table, if McCain makes it to the White House. Obama or Clinton would be worse for the country, but the difference will not be huge, and the damage will be comparatively short-lived. The longer term damage will be avoided if they serve in the oval office.
I vote by what a candidate does not by what he says he will do.
Get real. McCain would be sure to appoint appropriately “moderate” judges to avoid having to fight the Left and damage his standing with his political base in the US “News” media
Not so sure. I think VDH is suggesting that with Thompson as VP, McCain would be under control.
“his actual voting record on any of those issues?”.....proofs in the pudding. John Boy can dance all he wants for conservatives but his record runs the other way!
Yeah, most of them are indeed cads.
What a fool. He claims that McCain has changed his position on amnesty. The only thing McCain has done is to promise, without any specifics, that he would secure the border, before granting amnesty to 20 million, plus 20 million more family members.
Well, that may well happen. I think that some people see an arrogant person who believes she is entitled possibly running agains an arrogant person who believes he is entitled. The rest of us are supposed to just shut up and take it.
I couldn't agree more. Or perhaps I could.
With a Democrat pushing carbon taxes, higher taxes, fairness doctrine, amnesty etc.; at least there's a chance for Republicans to become unified and strong in their united opposition. If a Republican proposes these things - we're doomed.
Also, the off year elections in Congress general favor the Presidential loser - we'd lose both ways.
Lastly, only a full fledged moron would believe that John McCain would nominate a Supreme Court Judge that would strike down McCain/Feingold. That rules out any "strict constructionists". Look for a Sandra Day O'conner AT BEST. And we're supposed to trash everything we believe to get Sandra Day.
I'll skip this flavor of Kool Aid.
I completely agree. I used to have a lot of respect for Hanson, but he's completely lost me with his cheerleading for John McCain. This election has really opened my eyes about a lot of people.
I will never vote for someone because of what "letter" is next to their name again. I've reached my limit.
Goodbye GOP.
THEN GO START YOUR OWN DAMN PARTY..I’m so sick of this whining and complaining that will end with a Clinton in the White House. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU.
Hanson can attempt to denigrate the record of Reagan (or St. Reagan as he puts it), but I don't recall Ronald Reagan ever voting against a tax cut. McCain did it twice and what's more - he based his opposition on the class-warfare rhetoric brought to us by the likes of Ted Kennedy. That's all I need to know in this race.
I don’t want to hear your damn whining when McCain LOSES. You people are bound and determined to lose by nominating a liberal to run against another liberal (and an old sick one at that). Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
it doesn’t matter if it is clinton or mccain..actually will probably be better with clinton.
Sorry VDH, but I will no longer drink RINO cyanide because I’m told it will kill me more slowly than ‘Rat cyanide.
I’m going to spit them both out this time. No open borders traitor like Shamnesty McInsane will ever be elected with my vote.
