I don't like him because he is a mean-spirited, hot tempered, cranky, old, Liberal fart who is out of touch with Conservative reality.
There; that didn't take nearly the space this Townhall.com article did.

I also have a couple of major problems with McCain when it comes to national security.

His refusal to drill ANWR--is a NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUE (when it comes to reducing our dependence on foreign oil).

Also, his willingness to support a form of amnesty--only encourages more illegal immigration--which does have national security consequences.

He has built his entire political persona on showing how much he differs from Republicans and conservatives. That does not bode well for those wanting a White House that is more conservative than the current one.

Lorie Byrd

Reagan Challenged His Party from the Right. McCain Challenges His Party from the Left

Mark Levin

The liberal news industry have called him a “maverick Republican” for years.

They are all saying the same thing.

If conservatives and Republicans don’t get it, and they support this man, they will have been duped to such an extent, that they truly are dumb.

Republicans:  Conservatives, don't waste your vote trying to sort out the GOP's `liberal / moderate mess'.
If you are a Conservative, then Vote Conservative.

The information I have is that Duncan Hunter's name is on the ballot in all counties in California. - What a "Golden" Opportunity for California Republicans who have not yet thrown their vote away trying to resolve the GOP's liberal / moderate mess.

I agree that the problem with McCain is not so much the positions that he took as the reason he took the positions. McCain has acted as a fifth column inside the Republican party, ever since his defeat in 2000, maybe before his defeat.
His actions seem vindictive and self aggrandizing.

As Thomas Sowell said, Benedict Arnold was a war hero, too. Hero status doesn’t last forever if more recent actions don’t measure up to the past.

It is a terrifying thought, that McCain might have his finger on that red button:

This spectacle by McCrazy reaffirmed to me that he’s mentally ill.

He is a Bob Dole with a temper. An old man past his prime who will do anything or anyone to become President. McCain agains Obama - It will be Obama.
He has a new scandal that will come out just in time for Hilary or Obama to win.
If by some unforseen miracle he would win, He would go so far left he would make Nixon look like a Reagan Republican.

A McCain presidency will bring the U.S. closer to being simply an economic zone, and push it further away from its cultural and historical distinctiveness. I don’t have a spare country, like many of those a McCain presidency would benefit at my expense. That’s why I would never vote for him. He can “come around” to me.

Why are so many Republicans freaking out about John McCain’s primary success?

Answer: Because McCain is a sick scumbag who is not only an open borders loon, but is also stupid enough to be duped by the "global warming" alarmists. Anybody that stupid is wholly unfit to be Commander-in-Chief. I would rather ride out four years of a scumbag Democrat in the White House than reward the back-stabbing McCain for his duplicity, sleaze, and arrogance.

"Unlike some conservatives I am hearing from, I will vote for McCain in November if he is the nominee."

Huh? Why vote for someone commentators have called "Hillary in drag?" If it quack's like a duck and walks like a duck, it's a duck. McCain is a Clinton/Kerry liberal with a nasty attitude and contempt for conservative values.

Answer: because any “Republican” so beloved by the NY Times, LA Times, and all of the MSM is a Trojan Horse candidate designed to wreck the party and marginalize conservatism.

McCain never could have had such national stature on his own ideas and record.... the MSM loves him because he sticks it to his own party as often as possible, plays the “good RINO” for the press and generally just makes a mess of things for conservatives. I give him much credit for his military service and for his support of the USA in the War on Terror, but it takes a lot more to be a good President.

More generally speaking: McCain’s ACU rating in 2006 was 48th out of 49 Republican senators.

Only Bridge-to-Nowhere Stevens was lower.

Sorry...I’m not freaked out about John McCain’s success.

I’ve thought for a while that the Republican party has gone down the tubes. This just verifies that thought.

Conservatives need to find a new home.
