Punxsutawney Phil sees shadow, predicts more winter ahead
2 minutes ago
If you believe in folklore, bundle up for six more weeks of wintry weather.
This is Groundhog Day, and the furry little critter known as Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning. That, according to tradition, means six more weeks of winter.
The apathetic-looking rodent was pulled from his stump by members of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club Inner Circle. They are the local businessmen in the Western Pennsylvania town who carry out the February 2nd ritual while garbed in top hats and tuxedos.
The ceremony was preceded by a boisterous celebration attended by thousands of cold, but happy people, including a few couples who used the occasion to get engaged.

Hmmm....well.. there are groundhogs that hang out around the workplace...
Big deal - from what I’ve seen the choice is this:
1) He sees his shadow and we get 6 more weeks of winter
2) He doesn’t see his shadow and we get 8-10 more weeks of winter.
Either way, we get more winter.
Must not have got the latest spin from Gore, note to Phil, check Democrat talking points after you wake, and before you go out.
Punxsutawney Phil Probably buys and burns gasoline in record amounts just like the rest of the Democrats.
This has already taken place and the story is written? I guess he looked for his shadow before dawn.
Reminds me of Ground Hog Day which reminds me of this election. We are where we were when Bush ran for his second term.
I’ve been following Groundhog Day since 1977...has there ever been a Groundhog Day where the groundhog didn’t see his shadow? I don’t believe there ever was. Like the Great Pumpkin, early spring never appears.
It’s going to take him 6 weeks to dig out from under the snow I’ve got here.
.204 ruger 400yrds or less= no more Phil.
Since records have been kept:
Saw Shadow: 97
No Shadow: 15
No Record: 9
Hee hee hee... my first laugh of the day! Thanks!

Dang if I didn't look up Spring 2008 and it begins on March 20! That Groundhog was only off by 4 days! Amazing!
Haven't had enough coffee. The result is the same but here is THIS year's prediction:
Beau's Prophesy... Hallelujah! Early Spring!
No Shadow at Georgia's Yellow River Game Ranch
LILBURN, GEORGIA, Feb. 2, 2008 /SUNRISE - General Beau Lee, Ph.D., Georgias Official Weather Prognosticator and internationally recognized furry forecaster, roused by "Scattered, Smothered and Covered" Hash Browns and legions of Beau Boosters in bleachers, yelling, "Go Beau" waddled thru the swinging doors of his Southern Mansion at 7:58 A.M. EST in balmy 28-degree weather at The Yellow River Game Ranch in Lilburn, Georgia, a 24-acre animal preserve.
After conferring with the huddled crowd, Game Ranch CEO Col. Art Rilling proclaimed Beaus prediction, "Muff the EAR-MUFFS yall. Beau did not see his shadow. Look forward to an early spring!!!!
For the 28th Annual Celebration, eighteen-year-old Beau was awakened by the repeated ringing of an antique farm bell. Performing his once a year occupation, Beau reluctantly left the comfort of his plush "Weathering Heights Mansion" to brave the cold in performance of his civic duty. Beau has an extraordinary 94% rate of accuracy.
Beau has been recognized by four Georgia Governors including the Honorable Sonny Perdue who issued a Proclamation, which recognizes Beau as Georgias Official Weather Prognosticator, and further pays special tribute to him for his precise, annual prediction which enables Southerners to effectively prepare for the coming season.
Beaus Bio and the history of Groundhog Day may be perused on the Game Ranch web site at www.yellowrivergameranch.com.
My stimulus plan money has already been spent on gas for the snow blower.
I’m donating mine to the NRA.
Good idea! Better than donating it to China if you know what I mean.
