He could have done it when he was on Hugh’s show. Now there is only 4 days left. That was my only point. He is a stand up guy I thought perhaps he was going to announce he was selected as the VP for Romney.. I was hoping.

A sitting President can marginalize the VP into a nothing position. That is why few actually seek out that position.
So, it could be possible that the ONLY plus for the VP nominee would be if McCain stopped breathing while in Office.
Otherwise, a VP may have little influence or power within a given presidential administration.

Oh, how I wish Thompson were still in the race. Santorum would have endorsed him!

Ive been thinking that one strategy that the Romney campaign might pursue in the next few days is to declare a running mate. Im hoping for Thompson but Santorum would be exciting as well!
In '76, Reagan tried pre-naming another PA Senator, Dick Schweicker, in an effort to get some of the state's uncommitted delegates . . . it didn't work. Schweicker was named HHS sec. in '81 by Ronaldus Magnus.
Since Santorum lost his own state, he can't be the VP pick. He wouldn't even put PA in play. However, if Romney won, he'd make a great HHS sec, too.
Thompson has foreign policy creds to balance out Romney. I'd rather have a VP who could be a successor in four or eight years. Thompson ain't that.

John McCain IS NOT putting Huckabee on his ticket
No, but he is getting the offer dangled before him. Heck, just dangle a pizza in front of Huckaphony and he'll do your bidding.

Some people are still voting for fred too. People here in Florida voted for Tancredo, Duncan, and Thompson. But all there votes added together would not have changed the final outcome. Can’t blame people for thinking for themselves.

He (Huckabee) is the perfect weapon for McCain to demolish the conservative wing of the party.

Rick is well liked here.He lost because a well loved Governor's son ran on a prolife ticket.Casey is not holding up his end of the bargain from what I read.

“Rick Santorum Endorses Mitt Romney”
That and $3.35 will get you a Grande Non-Fat Latte at
Starbucks!
I’ve met and talked with Rick - even took a train ride together. But he is tone deaf to reality and couldn’t even
carry PA as an incumbent. Good moral man. Smart.
Wrong.
Doesn’t hurt Mitt. Doesn’t help Mitt.

I've been getting the same feling. They are too "friendly" and IMO if they are left as the 2 nominees the MSM will attack McCain with a ferocity unseen of before to ensure Hillary's ascendency to the office. Hillary will make a "peace offering" to show how much interest she has for people on both sides of the aisle and will offer McCain the VP slot to "join our nation together". In that scenario he will lap at her feet like a puppydog in love.
