A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 200,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, 2006 - the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

Dare To Be Different
READ:
2 Corinthians 5:12-21Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:20
Since my dad was a pastor, I got stuck with the label known to every pastors kid: PK. But, much to the congregations disappointment, the title didnt stop me from being my mischievous little self. I cant count the times I heard, Little Joe, youre the pastors son. You should be an example. But I didnt want to be an example! I was only 5 and wanted to have fun with my friends!
Lets face it, being an example is often about being different. But most of us dont want to be different. We want people to like us, and the safest way to do that is to blend in. But following Christ has never been about blending in. Following Him means to be like Him, to respond to life and relate to people as He did. Its a little risky and uncomfortable to be different. But thats what being an ambassador for Christ (2 Cor. 5:20) is all aboutbringing the wonderful difference of your King to bear on the territory youve been assigned: your home, your office, your friendships. Representing the King is not just our calling; its a great honor.
In retrospect, I can see how my antics as a PK reflected poorly on my dad. Its motivating to remember that our non-Jesus attitudes and actions also reflect poorly on our King.
Make a difference by daring to be different!
Show me the way, Lord, let my light shine
As an example of good to mankind;
Help them to see the patterns of Thee,
Shining in beauty, lived out in me. Neuer
Dare to be differentfor the Fathers sake.

We are seeing rain, freezing rain, sleet, etc...
Very slippery and everything is canceled or delayed.
Lots of ice on the cars, it’s nasty.

Goodness, what a beautiful Red Rose for Friday! We have rain here today...has been terribly cold Wednesday and Thursday and rain today. I plan to try to stay in today but may have to run out for a few things. I voted yesterday to avoid this coming Tuesday crowd! Still had a line to wait in.

I am with you on the election. I feel like the Four Stooges
are running.
*sigh*
I knew replacing our Cowboy was going to be hard, but I didn’t
realize that we’d have such a weird choice to make. :(

You sure have that right. I am very unhappy!
I even braved getting on some political threads Wednesday and Thursday nights. Wasn’t that bitterness on Wed. or Thurs.like it had gotten back when I had to quit going to political things.
(((Hugs back))))
