They shouldn’t. Romney’s wrong.
Meanwhile, McCain wants to close the non-existent “gun show loophole”, which will pave the way for closing the “private sale loophole” (which can only be closed through total firearms registration).
Romney signed a bill that crossed his desk in a very liberal state. While McCain enlisted the help of the left and went out of his way to close a fraudulent “loophole” using statistics provided by the anti-gun lobby.
Romney may have come up weak in his defense of 2A as the Governor of Mass. But McCain initiated his assault against it. There’s a crucial difference there.

Did you really have to revisit that stupid remark?

I agree with Ann’s sentiments, although I would not vote for Hillary. If McCain is the GOP man then I will be like Reagan with a twist: “I did not leave the Republican party. The Republican party left me.”
The good news is that the R’s and D’s will be so similar that they could leach each others bases, giving a conservative third party candidate a win. Not likely, I know, but more possible than ever in the last hundred years.

Looks like this McCain thing is VERY divisive.
And I really would consider him worse than Hillary. But I could never cast a vote for either.

And Ive read your posts that have overwhelmingly focused on attacking Romney while generally giving McCain a pass. I just cant for the life of me see where youre coming from here.
Here's where I'm coming from: I think Romney would be worse for the GOP and the country than McCain. It seems pretty obvious to me, and I think our allies in the conservative media are out more for themselves than for conservative principle on this one--particularly after so many of them rushed to support Giuliani or Romney while there were still perfectly acceptable conservatives in the race.
As for McCain, I have no love for him. But if push came to shove, I could pull the lever for him against Hillbama. Not so with Romney--the man is simply a no-core-values fraud who will help liberalism advance on all fronts while pretending to oppose it--just like he did in Massachusetts. I also have zero confidence in him on judges. You know his record, in MA, right? I expect Romney to do to the GOP nationally what he did to the GOP in Massachusetts--make it a neutered rump party that has no chance to compete nationally anymore.
And Ive always had a good deal of regard for you over the years.
I appreciate the kind words. I'm pretty much in lock-step with Jim Rob on this one, so I feel like I'm in good company.

She's either serious about campaigning for Hillary or just trying to grab some headlines by throwing bombs. False choice fallacy.
She's trying to dramatize a point. McCain is not the conservative he claims to be and he will be hazardous to the Republic if elected, more so than Clinton, because the Republican minority won't fight his ugly proposals as much as they'd fight Clinton's.

Not so with Romney--the man is simply a no-core-values fraud who will help liberalism advance on all fronts while pretending to oppose it--just like he did in Massachusetts.Like McCain has done for every waking moment of the last eight years. That's where you lose me. I can accept not your voting for Romney, I can appreciate the principle behind it. But that principle goes out the window when you pull the lever for John McCain. The man has done more to damage conservatism in America than anyone in a generation, at least.

I'm curious to know where he stands after seeing McCain's "post-partisan" pow-wow at the solar-panel plant with Rudy and Arnold. The new face of the republican party. I have a sneaking suspicion it make him sick to his stomach.

I've lost respect for so many people who I thought were conservative. This election cycle has been positively hideous.
That makes at least two of us

Myself and many others who support Romney have been on these threads for an entire year. We know the difference between those who oppose Romney and do not hate him and those who oppose Romney and do.
Some posters have been on these threads almost daily making the most negative, vile comments about Romney again and again, comments which many times are completely untrue. To post so negatively, so intensely and so consistently like that about someone, is to my mind and the mind of many others, hateful. If you haven't seen it on these threads than you are lying to yourself.

“I might go third party, but I’ll NEVER, EVER vote for a Marxist Democrat like Hillary or Obama.”
Exactly, there’s go to be a better third party candidate for my conscience than McCain or Hillary.

"I both of you still need to knock of the comments about how everyone hates Mormons and Mormonism."NO ONE used the word EVERYONE. Go back and read my posts. I used the word SOME, a far cry from how democrats might express it.

We were discussing something beyond the premise of this thread, and I was commenting on a point introduced by the other poster.
